It's acting.

Undoubtedly these actors are working under a film permit. There are specific exemptions from impersonating an officer, driving a simulated police vehicle, etc., when you do that in the course of acting.

Because as in most reality shows the local law enforcement officials are notified of anything going on. This way if the act is illegal it can be stopped at that point and if not then when the general public call to report a crime they can be assured that it is all okay. Much the same way as the maintenence crew notifying the fire department when testing fire alarm systems.

because its TV. Just like law and order, NYPD Blue, Kojak, Hawaii Five O, Third Watch and any one of a million shows/movies with cops. Usually impersonation has to involve some sort of criminal intent.

Probably for the same reason nobody on those Cop shows get arrested. They are acting!!! I'm sure there are permits which are obtained which allows them to film in that area and I'm sure that those permits are somehow funneled through the local PD who then notifies the precinct of what is going on.

Probably because the whole show is scripted and the people being "Punk'd" know what's going on?? Just a guess.

No, because they are not impersonating an officer to commit a crime. They are doing it to pull a prank. There is no intent to commit a crime

They go through the process of getting consent to do what they plan to do.

I think they often let the local police know what's going on so.

i think what they're doing is acted out. 100% fake. as long as its on a closed set, they cant do anything.

cuz they probably get prior consent...and they sign a consent form or something...and waiver of liability if something goes wrong...
