Sure, why not. Bring on the Amero and the TransTexas Cooridor too while you are at it. Wait, how come we haven't had a comprehensive immigration policy? Could it be because we are merging the three countries? The European Union was formed in backroom meetings much the same way as the North American Union is being formed. Anyone who doesn't believe that this is happening has thier head buried in the sand. Time to wake up to what Bush is doing rather than the smokescreen that Iraq is.

I think it is a bad idea. First, Quebec wants independence, not to be folded into an even bigger English-speaking country.
Secondly, in practical terms no North American union could exclude Mexico. And Mexico and the US are such different societies that forced integration would destroy both cultures.
In short, there is no good reason to concentrate even more political power at an even less accountable continental level.

Won't ever happen. Though the idea sounds good it is pretty much impossible. In America we have freedom and for everyone to find a compromise so we can all be united won't ever work mainly because people will feel like their rights are being "violated". The truth about it is. .America is spoiled.

Sure, we can fly the Maple Leaf, move the capital to Ottawa, and adopt French as one of our two official languages. Oh, that wasn't what you had in mind? I have a feeling Canadians would take an equally dim view of being swallowed by the US. Pierre Elliot Trudeau once remarked that if one were to ask 10 Canadians what exactly makes one Canadian, he'd get 12 answers...but that every one of them would tell you he's NOT an American.

In essence it is a great idea. However, who would be in charge? Do we let Great Britain or France run it, as the Canadian Government has both elements, or do we let some Spanish dictator run it? Quite frankly,I'm very happy here ith the United States, without Canada or Mexico telling us what to do.

What would it be then? The United States of Mexanada? It would be a disaster, who would set the laws for these three very different cultures? To me it would be like asking for a civil war. I am not for giving up our sovereignty.
