A Mexican friend of mine who lives in Mexico just wrote to me about the following that he read in the November Reader's Digest. I have tried to find the article on the internet, but cannot. Maybe it is only shown in the Mexican version, I don't know. Has anyone on here seen this?

Happiest countries:

Apparently, the Mexican version of the November Reader's Digest says Mexico rates #2 as the happiest country and the USA rates #15. Has anyone seen this? I wonder how Mexico can be rated so high when more than 400,000 of their citizens run to the USA to live illegally every year? I can see why the USA rates so low, considering how unhappy the citizens are about all the illegal immigrants in their country, but how can Mexico rate so high when so many of them want to get OUT of Mexico and INTO the USA?

1. Puerto Rico
2. Mexico
3. Denmark
4. Ireland
5. Iceland
10. Canada
15. U.S.A.

The US and Australia have 3 levels of government, local, state and federal. Most countries in the world do not have a state level. Maintaining 3 levels of government seems to be a waste of money, do we really need so many politicians? What do state govts do that could not be done at the local or federal level?

There are so many stories related to this question and its interesting to what people have to say.... It's very sad to hear about it, because these "kids" are so young. Many don't realize the consequences of commiting a crime or killing a person by accident....

I've tried this several times in the political and science sections and gotten no answer that wasn't opinion. I am looking for real information, not urban legend or personal speculation. If there is real information out there why can't anyone provide it. I can understand that natural phenonom can be a contributing factor, but the effects such as glaciers and ice melting at a record pace in synch with record man-made pollution cannot be brushed off. If you have refuting evidence show it.

Let's face it, there's a lot of morons on both sides of the political aisle. There's a great deal of conservatives I don't like, and a great deal of liberals I don't like. But in the end, what is it that bothers you about the other side: is it the doctrine they're expressing, or the way they're expressing it? I've been reading a lot of Al Franken's political books lately, and in them he makes a good case of what a fat-headed pig Rush Limbaugh is. I happen to agree. But we need more of a reason to oppose our political opposites than the way some of their representatives behave. Conservatives, do you really hate liberal doctrine, or is it just the liberals themselves? Liberals, do you really hate conservative doctrine, or is it just the conservatives themselves?

I first saw I could not cross the intersection and clear it so I stopped. Then the cars ahead began to move up and I tried to cross thru the intersection, but the traffic stopped and I could not clear the intersection. Traffic was heavy that day and the cop was sitting there I guess waiting for someone to make a mistake at this confusing intersection. I am guilty, but I did not realize the traffic was going to stop again. The ticket is $120.00.!!! I am also worried about the insurance going up. Only my second ticket. First one 12 years ago. Do I plead guilty and ask for a lower fine??? Just wanting some info from someone who has been to traffic court.

Political differences aside, I sense a real vicious animosity and extreme state of malice toward her.

The cons who always ask here "Why do they hate Bush with such vehemence?" would do well to examine the behavior of their own party vis a vis Mrs. Clinton.

I have a neighbor who lives next to my back yard. This neighbor, for whatever reason, will call the police with little to no prompting for things that are perfectly legal. This afternoon, she called the police to complain about noise since my housemate was listening to the radio at a reasonable volume while working in the garden. This is not the first incident like this. Is there any sort of legal recourse than can be taken against this neighbor? It almost seems as though me and my housemates are under martial law because of fear that she will call the police for something like eating dinner in our backyard. Any advice?
