Let's face it, there's a lot of morons on both sides of the political aisle. There's a great deal of conservatives I don't like, and a great deal of liberals I don't like. But in the end, what is it that bothers you about the other side: is it the doctrine they're expressing, or the way they're expressing it? I've been reading a lot of Al Franken's political books lately, and in them he makes a good case of what a fat-headed pig Rush Limbaugh is. I happen to agree. But we need more of a reason to oppose our political opposites than the way some of their representatives behave. Conservatives, do you really hate liberal doctrine, or is it just the liberals themselves? Liberals, do you really hate conservative doctrine, or is it just the conservatives themselves?

I am against the message, not the messengers. I am a libertarian, so I am opposed to both conservatism and liberalism. But most of the ardent conservatives and liberals I've known were pretty decent people, once you put politics aside.

The vast majority of ideological people hold their beliefs because they believe they are right and that their ideology has the most to offer humanity. They may be misguided or incorrect, but most of them are not evil...even if they see things differently than I do.

I do not hate conservatives and actually I have quite a lot of friends amongst them and we do get into heated discussions from time to time. And this is what essential to any progress - the discussion, the difference of opinions, the questions, the weighting of the pros and cons and finding the solution. What I cannot agree with is any doctrine, any philosophy taken to its limits - no dialog, no openness. Just arrogance, prejudice and self-rightness.

I hate the way they express themselves. I don't mind people with different political beliefs if they talked respectfully. I have friends with different viewpoints and we get along fine. They respect my beliefs and don't use hate speech. In return, I respect theirs. Conservatives and liberals don't even know if they hate each other or their beliefs. We should all be respectful to each other.

I hate the head in the sand approach of some Conservatives over the uselessness of this administration. I do however have friends from both camps.
