The other day, while waiting for a bus in Grosse Pointe Pk., MI (a formerly all-white enclave of the rich, but now a rental community of mixed ethnicity bordering one of the wealthiest cities in the country), I saw a young man get manhandled by the police, and arrested for seemingly nothing more than being Black.
Now, I have known this to happen to others, and I am not naive--racism is big and bad and strong in this country--and especially in Grosse Pointe.
I'm white, but I have been married to a Black man for over 25 yrs. (though we have been separated for 10.) I have biracial children and grandchildren. We lived in West Virginia in the 70s!! I mean, I have seen racism! And I have fought against racism.
But I did not run to the young man's aid. It could have been that the arresting officer yelled at a Black woman who was coming to see if the young man wanted her to call his mother, "Get back, or you're going to jail, too." It could have been that within two minutes, 2 more

Ok here is the deal. On this tuesday election ballot in Arizona there was a tax increase on cigarettes for some state programs.(Proposition 203) Throghout the campaign it was advertised as 80 cent/pack or $8 carton tax rate. Now on the ballot they put"By voting Yes on this proposition the state will impose a .80 cent/pack tax on each pack of cigarette.(no mention of totaling $8 carton). The propostion passed 53 to 47 percent. Now here is the question....is .80 cents same as 80 cents or is there some legal way to challange this and say I voted for .80cent and its should be 80th of a cent and not 80 cents as the proposition proposed. And since The ballot said .80 cent why should i be charged 80 cents. Confusing as it can be, anyone has a simple answer whether it is challangeable in court, if the people behind prop. 203 try to impose it as 80 cents per pack rate.

A guy on Yahoo Answers posted this :"the bible says queers shall be stoned, and by leading others into homosexual behavior is considered one of the worst sins of all."

And one more thing he said: "murder is also a high priority crime and homosexuality should be placed in the same category."

So my question is why aren't they doing something about homosexual "impurity" if it's in the same category as murder?

this man next door to me reached over my fence and hit my husband for no reason(i think the guy was on pcp)and when my mother in law called the police he hit her 3 times in the head with the palm of his hand,and when the cops got there he told them some story and the police would not let us press charges against him.he told them my husband had a gun in the house and the only reason we had it was because my husband was shot 2 times in the chest and the jury found the guy innocent,so any ways my husband had a felony for stealing a car 12 years ago and the cops arrested him for having it,and we still wanted to press charges on this neighbor and the cops told us no,when we called the watch commander he had the arresting officer call us back and all he kept saying was well your son had a gun and he was a felon,we asked again for them to do something about this guy and they wont.who do i call now?
