and hand off the mess to the next (Dem) prez - who will be forced to pullout. That way, they will be able to rewrite history (in their creepy and Orwellian way) and then blame Iraq on the Democrats.

Pretty much, yes. And don't assume a dem will be pres in 08. The dems are still a mess and will need more than 2 years to produce someone that can beat a McCain.

Iraq is escalating too fast for that to happen. The Sunni and Shia are now staging running mortar battles into each others neighborhoods. I'm not sure they can even keep the top on it until the Dems take Congress in January, much less wait until the next presidential election.

I don't think so. Gates has some interesting solutions, and the fact that they picked him as a replacement for Rumsfeld proves that they are serious about accomplishing something over there... not just saying that things need to change while offering no solutions like the dems.

I really think Mr. Bush wants to get the rest of this right..I hope so anyway..I am a Democrat and think President Bush may have been surrounded by Yes mean an actually believed he was doing the right thing...As misguided as he was....I for sure think he is responsible for this mess,,But, I hope he is ready to fix this.....
