In Ohio, poker (or games of chance) is legal if played with friends at home as long as the house doesn't take a profit. Me and my friends sometimes play on "credit" and on good faith if they don't have the cash on them at the time. Over the course of the last year and a half, one of my friends has $500 in debt to me. I have many witnesses. I have been patient and now I would like to collect on this "credit" i extended to him. Would I be able to file a claim in small claims court for this? If not, what other legal avenues would I have?

I hear a lot of Propaganda from the right these days..."If the Dems win we will all die," "if the Dems win the terrorist will come and attack the United States."

Now I will grant you that not all Republicans are using scare tactics but I have seen a lot of it. And I am not saying that Dems don't have their issues also, but I am asking about Reps specifically.
Have all other issues fallen to the wayside? One thing I have heard is that "there have been no more attacks since 9-11" this argument seems mute. We never had any before so why do Reps feel that keeping terrorist attacks out of the U.S. is only because of the new policies?
Do you feel safer now that we have attacked Iraq? Do you feel that their is less animosity in the Middle East now that we have gone to war?
I am not trying to attack all Republicans but I would love to see intelligent and well thought out answers no "liberals are losers" type of answers. Show me your intelligence and sway my opinion to the right.

The post office offers a flat rate shipping for up to 70lbs that cost $8.10. I read that they offer a broke up stamp at $4.05 for the shipping. Does that mean I can send two packages as one so I don't get charged twice for the flat rate shipping?

I work with a young man who has recently returned from military duty and has been given a medical discharge. He was ambushed in Iraq while his group was patroling an Iraqi neighborhood and received severe facial injuries. He was on the receiving end of a gun butt by an Iraqi and received a broken jaw, nose and cheekbone and lost several teeth. He is back here now and trying to start life over after serving 8 years in the army. I was asking him what his plan was and he said that when a soldier is medically discharged he loses his college money fund that he has paid into and even though they fixed his face the goverment will not pay to fix his teeth. Hence, he is working a full time job at my company to get insurance and tuition reimbursement so he can afford college. I told him that it would seem that if a soldier was wounded in combat they should not be punished by losing benefits. He said these changes have happened since Bush has been in office.

Now that is a real war crime!

Most developed countries, as well as the USA, have a real need of workers unskilled and otherwise to support the economy and perhaps more importantly to raise taxes and pay the pensions of the retiring populace.

We are not making enough children, and thus, we do actually need foreign workers. It doesn't take much out of the economy- after all, the foreign worker will probably spend the money he earns in the same country as he works, and thus contributes to general welfare of the economy.

This of course, results in more competition for jobs. Which is, of course, negative to those who "lose out". But, more people means more jobs, it is an overall positive thing, still.

If they are jobless, and have to resort to government aid, it should be taken into consideration that this aid is given in such a way to give incentive to become employed again.

It is for these reasons, even Bush was supporting a general amnesty- after all, the only issue is that they are technically breaking the law.
