There is no doubt in my mind that both parties will be producing more and more unbelievable criticizing advertisements as we count down the days to the midterm election.
I will explain the newest, biggest, and baddest one of them all.
Over the course of many months with the various scandals and speculation that the president is breaching the boundaries of his executive power, Bush has been trying hard to keep the focus on the “War on Terror”.
It seems only natural to me that incumbent republicans would choose an advertisement concerning the wars.
The GOP has just announced they will release the advertisement this weekend. It is apparently intended to paint the democrats as being soft on terror, and the GOP will monopolize on their own attributed fear tactic once again.
They have gotten their idea for their new advertisement by examining an advertisement launched by Lyndon B. Johnson against his opponent, Barry Goldwater, in 1964. Under that specific advertisement, Johnson took advantage of the Cold War and labeled his opponent as an extremist who would plummet the nation into a nuclear war if elected president.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._presidential_election,_1964
The advertisement to be aired this weekend, like the one in 1964, is actually an exaggerated, despicable, petty, and desperate act with a small amount of truth blown WAY out of proportion by scaremongerers and warmongerers who have always relied heavily on their notorious FEAR TACTIC to garner support.
As you should know, republicans are scared out of their mind by the possibility of losing control of Congress. Meanwhile democrats are generally confident, and justifiably so.
Although it can be argued that the democrats are “soft on terror”, it is because they realize Iraq is no real "terror" threat to homeland security; actually our war which is fueling Islamic hatred is the cause of the threat.
As long as our nation shows diplomacy backed by our own military prowess, Intelligence, and support from the UN, democrats believe there is no doubt our great nation will be just fine.
The democrats certainly are "soft on terror" as they put it, and far less aggressive in the issue. But Intelligence points to the fact that the GOP is clearly WEAK on terror with their failing foreign policies backfiring 180 degrees.
So, which is better?
Is it the fault of the democrats that republicans would not listen to them after a while into the invasion, when democrats anticipated that more terrorists will form and things will only get worse? Nope. The “infallible” GOP thought they knew best.
Please excuse my bias…but I feel it is necessary since it supports reality, after all.
But I digress...are you going to let republicans sway you to vote for them and continue to intentionally mislead our American population into believing that they are doing a good job in the war fronts? Or are you going to allow them to persuade you with their scare tactics to succeed once again, as it happened when the U.S. almost unanimously decided to invade Iraq (the war in which our army bases are stationed next to oil fields)?
Hopefully none of the above!
I URGE ALL FELLOW AMERICANS to take into account with a clear head the advertisement, should they happen to view it sometime this weekend.
On November 7, I want ALL OF YOU to use your head and your heart to get out there and VOTE!!!

(apologies to the many, many sincere true American republicans who actually give a crap about the state of the country)

- stop blaming Bill Clinton - EVERYTHING can't be HIS fault can it?
WOW he sure was a powerful influence on you guys, eh?????

- stop blaming priests back in the 1950's, (for Foley)
- stop blaming immigrants who want a better life- and if you do blame others - then why is that meaningful- it's a cop-out -
- blaming your forget memories about who told you important things - thats the job is to take care of the country- NOT "I don't recall ever hearing anything about that"
Condi Rice CIA powerpoint presentation about possible attack by airplanes in early 2001
Dennis Hastert - anything-
Bush- never met Jack Abramoff?

is America just supposed to accept all this deceit?

TAKE SOME FREEKIN RESPONSIBILITY
just blame, blame, blame, on everyone else for all the trouble caused, well,
America is sick of it

skew the voteing outcome?
I keep hearing/reading that the Feds and States can't guarantee a fair, un tainted election. Anyone know anything about this? Are we the people and our Will to be cheated/corrupted yet some more by "special interest" groups (pro hispanic/illegals like groups similar to La Raza etc.) who know how to fraud the system; just as they have frauded us/broken our imigration laws and mandates by forging documents, stealing ID's etc?

Suppose I smoke pot in a place where it is legal, for example, Madrid, Spain. Assuming I want to get a government security clearance, or have to take a urinalysis, are my actions protected since I was within my legal rights in another country? Or am I penalized since they are illegal here in the US?

I know this is going to get some things started, because I've seen the posts. I have a very real question though. I've noticed that occasionally, more often than not, Democrats make stupid comments on here about Republicans and religion. Then, the Republicans respond by lumping all of the Democrats into one stereotypical group.

For instance, I've heard someone call us something like, "drug-abusing, teenage impregnating, burger flippers". Why do you insist on calling ALL of us that, when only one person has made that comment?

In fact, my husband and I are both Democrats. My husband is an Engineer, and I am a stay at home mom with my own business (and a "liberal arts" degree...which another Republican mocked). Neither of us have ever flipped burgers, we don't do drugs, and I got pregnant after marriage at 25. So, really, why attack an entire politican party?

Oh, and the last time I checked, our President did drugs...so I would keep that one out of it.

Clinton got impeached for sexual impropriety which seems to pale in comparison to the blatant law-breaking and Constitution-violating actions that Bush has taken.

And before you call me a stupid liberal, please notice my other questions, some of which are liberal, some of which are conservative.

My mother died a month ago, I know she had a will, as she was "very" well off financial. Her and I haven't spoken in many years, though she knew where I live. Is there anyway that I can find out about the will and if I was left anything in it. I doubt but curiousity is killing. I care less about what she might have left...though.

I can see that the detainee bill eliminates the right of habeas corpus for people deemed to be illegal enemy combatants and that they can be held in prison indefinitely without a trial or legal representation or even without knowing what they are charged with. And I understand that they can be tortured although what is done to them won't be called torture even though it can be horrible. And that this torture is not punishement of guilty persons but a means of extracting information from people who are accused but not yet convicted. Because what would be the point of torturing someone who has already been found guilty. But this could never happen to a US citizen, right?
