because your vote is supposed to be private. If you vote by ssn and address, then theoretically, you could face discrimination and harrassment if your vote got " found out". also, voting privacy ensures that votes aren't sold, as there is not a record tying your name to your vote.

A great idea but that would make it too simple for the powers that be. The ACLU would be up in arms, again diminishing US citizens.
