Since ancient Athens juries have decided on matters of justice. This manifests itself today as 12 people, randomly selected from the electoral roll, reviewing all available evidence and coming to a, preferably unanimous, decision by discussion of the evidence in private. Do you trust your fellow members of the general public to come to a reasoned decision? The key word here is reasoned. Are you satisfied with the powers of logic of the vast majority of the general public? I will be intrested to hear people's opinions and arguments on this point.

Richard Dawkins has written an essay on this topic here: http://www.simonyi.ox.ac.uk/dawkins/WorldOfDawkins-archive/Dawkins/Work/Articles/1997-11-16trialbyjury.shtml

I ask in reponse to a question i asked about self sufficiency in Britain; This country has enough knowlege wealth, technology available to become totaly self sufficient on our own energy within the next 10 years, we have vast areas land to grown our own food and manage in a productive way.
Yet people seem to deny this or are not even aware that it would be a big problem if we were ever affected by a big disaster or war. Why do people not look and question things around them? Facts are reality and are what should be used to form oppinions, common sence is a skill we seem to be lossing, are we doomed. Im proud to be from the uk, with all the great inventors and visionarys that we have produced, but people in this country dont use their brains any more..... it's just a wee worrying to say the least, is this society dumbed down, has it been easy to dumb down. How many people take what the media and politicians say as gospell truth and dont think for them selfs with informed conclusions..

I worry that The Illuminati, or whatever the name is of the group, or those, who control Bush really are, that my protests are actually playing into their overall strategy? After all, I do believe they have played us for years. And until the FREE Internet, there was no way to stop them. Anyway, I worry that I am their B I T C H right now. Talk about an oxymoron.

Anyway, I want to see their blood stains. They have drawn first blood on my people. I want to see their insides, whomever is truly responsible. I want you. You are the target of ALL of my aggression and what I work toward and forward to killing in my future. I think I'll leave your scapegoat "terrorists" to deal with the caves they live in and go after you, in your leather chairs that you spill Louis Crystal into on a daily basis. A S S HOLE MURDERERS.

That's right, I want the TRASH SCUM that controls the TRASH SCUM we call Mr. President. I want the DEALERS of DEATH, not the PUNK A S S fruits like GW Bush..

I was in NYC and saw the planes hit the buildings? Also, everyone claiming bombs were what brought the buildings down: Did you know that the fire from the planes melted steel, which was what actually brought the buildings down? You conspiracy nuts need to have a drink. It makes me mad when I was actually there and some *** tries telling me it was fake... get lives. Hey well I use this computer program to prank call, and conference two numbers together. Like sometimes I'll connect someone with AOL at like 2am or something like that, and listen to them cuss them out for calling them. Then other times I'll pick two stores like Walmart for example, and conference them together, and listen to them try to figure out what's going on. Since it's a computer program/service my number doesn't display on caller id, and comes up as unknown so it's very hard for people to find out who's calling if there even is a way. I was just wondering that if someone actually was able to trace it back to me then how much trouble could I get into for pranking people like this?

I watched a documentary on CNN where the military stated that they were not told by the FAA that this was happening or they would have responded. But i saw video footage of two F-14 fly in combat formation over the city BEFORE the first tower collapsed. Think of the implications of this.

WOW...is this laying it on the line or what?

The lady who wrote this letter is Pam Foster of Pamela Foster and Associates in Atlanta . She's been in business since 1980 doing interior design and home planning. She recently wrote a letter to a family member serving in Iraq ....... Read it!

"Are we fighting a war on terror or aren't we? Was it or was it not started by Islamic people who brought it to our shores on September 11, 2001 ?
Were people from all over the world, mostly Americans, not brutally murdered that day, in downtown Manhattan , across the Potomac from our nation's capitol and in a field in Pennsylvania ?
Did nearly three thousand men, women and children die a horrible, burning or crushing death that day, or didn't they?
And I'm supposed to care that a copy of the Koran was "desecrated" when an overworked American soldier kicked it or got it wet? Well, I don't.
I don't care at all.

I'll start caring when Osama bin Laden turns himself in and repents or incinerating all those innocent people on 9/11.
I'll care about the Koran when the fanatics in the Middle East start caring about the Holy Bible, the mere possession of which is a crime in Saudi Arabia .
'll care when Abu Musab al-Zarqawi tells the world he is sorry for hacking off Nick Berg's head while Berg screamed through his gurgling slashed throat. I'll care when the cowardly so-called "insurgents" in Iraq come out and fight like men instead of disrespecting their own religion by hiding in mosques. I'll care when the mindless zealots who blow themselves up in search of nirvana care about the innocent children within range of their suicide bombs. I'll care when the American media stops pretending that their First Amendment liberties are somehow derived from international law instead of the United States Constitution's Bill of Rights.
In the meantime, when I hear a story about a brave marine roughing up an Iraqi terrorist to obtain information, know this: I don't care.

When I see a fuzzy photo of a pile of naked Iraqi prisoners who have been humiliated in what amounts to a college-hazing incident, rest assured that I don't care.
When I see a wounded terrorist get shot in the head when he is told not to move because he might be booby-trapped, you can take it to the bank that, I Don't care.
When I hear that a prisoner, who was issued a Koran and a prayer mat, and fed "special" food that is paid for by my tax dollars, is complaining that his holy book is being "mishandled," you can absolutely believe in your heart of hearts that, I don't care.
And oh, by the way, I've noticed that sometimes it's spelled "Koran"
and other times "Quran." Well, Jimmy Crack Corn and ---- you guessed it -
I don't care!!!!!

If you agree with this viewpoint, pass this on to all your e-mail
friends. Sooner or later, it'll get to the people responsible for
this ridiculous behavior! If you don't agree, then by all means hit the delete button.
Should you choose the latter, then please don't complain when
more atrocities committed by radical Muslims happen here in our great country.

I am not deleting this, I am sending it on, but only after I add:

"Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. But, the Marines don't have that problem."
-- Ronald Reagan

I have another quote that I would like to add AND...I hope you forward
this as I have.

"If we ever forget that we're One Nation Under God, then we will be a nation gone under." also by... Ronald Reagan

"SecureID to Crack Down on Use of Fraudulent Documents to Obtain State Identification
Initiative to Combat Illegal Immigration and Identity Theft, Support Homeland Security

ATLANTA (September 6, 2006) – Governor Sonny Perdue today unveiled Georgia SecureID, a multi-agency effort to combat the use of fraudulent documents to obtain state identification cards and driver's licenses. Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) investigators will be placed in the 10 highest-need DDS Customer Service Centers throughout the state to crack down on the use of fraudulent documents. "

"It is simply unacceptable for people to sneak into this country illegally on Thursday, obtain a government-issued ID on Friday, head for the welfare office on Monday and cast a vote on Tuesday," said Governor Perdue. "
