I have been going out with my boyfriend for about 8 months now, and he has been here illegally since he was 10 ( he is now 20). He has not asked me to marry him, but it has come up in our conversations a few times, and he is thinking about marrying someone else for 2,000 dollars. I would like to marry him (not acting as his wife, it's just a paper) just to help him, but I don't know if I can because I'm just turning 18 soon and I only have about 5,000 dollars to my name. So I guess my questions are:

1) Would the government allow us to marry even if I had not a lot of money?

2) Would he have to go back to Mexico first?

I read this story about an abortion survivor and a Colorado politician and wondered what others thought about it.

Bet we could get away with it and blame terrorists for it easy .This will be the only way for the world to come to the reality that these people are dangerous and that they all need to be stoped .

Why are the people in San Diego so "conservative" and why do they toss around the word "liberal" like it is a bad word. The people I know who consider themselfs liberal are very caring about other people's well being, animals and the environment.

I've always heard that a day would come that money would have no value. Thinking about this the other day, I realized that money keeps order in our society. For instance, grocery stores would be impossible if everyone could go in and shop for free, there would be mayhem and chaos. People would fill 3 and 4 carts up to the brim, right? Unless there was a strictly regulated system. What do yous guys think?

A judge ruled today that the warrantless wiretapping by the government was unconstitutional and ordered them to stop. So my question is this: Why can't the White House just go to the FISA court and get a court order retroactivelly? If they did, they wouldn't have any problems with it being unconstitutional because the courts would have given them permission. If they would have done this in the first place, they wouldn't have had a problem. Are they just too proud to admit that they went about it the wrong way, or is there something going on that they don't want us to know about?

How can you define it and have me accept it in society without introducing any influences of religious doctrine?
For example we know that murder is bad, but without the Ten Commandments why do we otherwise except this. The American morays and laws were based upon what the Puritans brought when founding the country. If we seperate the core belief system how do we validate a cultural norm?

Ok. So it is said that deporting illegal immigrants will cost double what it costs just to "let them be".

My question is: It also costs a lot more to prosecute other crimminals than to just "let them be", but I am willing to pay that price. I mean are we just going to let people committ crimes because it is expensive to stop them? That arguement holds no water.

This is NOt about LEGAL immigrants. They have broken no laws. I am merely talking about illegal immigrants in the United States. So, if you have any racist comments about Mexicans in general (legal or not) please post them elsewhere. I have seen a lot of racism in this category. I want to make it clear I am AGAINST illegal immigration, but not against ANY perticular race.

What are your thoughts on the cost of deporting vs. the cost of letting illigal immigrants stay here illegally?

and the illegal immigrants had no clue to where the Americans went -- where would the illegals go? Would they then be forced to deal with the issues in their countries, that make them run to America?

Many liberals seem to believe any effort to cut a poverty-related program is hatred of the poor and abandoning Jesus' call to help the poor, the sick, the widow. Bush Republicans seem to think it is fine to cut taxes but not cut any government programs at all as well, but only because it ensures their re-election.

But Jesus didn't advocate government programs to help the sick and poor, he didn't refer them to a bureaucracy. He provided direct relief, he treated them as persons. Charitable organizations, faith-based or secular, do a fine job of helping people, and better than the government. Why not support that structure instead of expecting a massive government bureaucracy siphon off aid dollars and provide inferior service and results?
