lafayette's police chief has been indicted for wiretapping, opelousas' police chief has been indicted for the misuse of fedearl funding and of refusing to answer disturbance calls because the sheriff dept, not the city won a big security contract for a one night concert, carencro's police chief beat up his wife, scott's police chief got a sexual harassment charge of one of his employees, WHATS WRONG WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT IN LOUISIANA!! and also on top of that there are police officers who never been to the academy yet who are out there and also i remember one officer, in a rural town near my city, who was illiterate! he had to call other police officers to write the ticket for him!

His long life is totally lacking in any acts of courage, bravery or valor. But yet republicans see him as a hero or god. What has changed in our country so that men who would formerly be viewed as the wimps that they are with spines like gelatin are instead revered and exalted.

I always wondered about that aspect with Hitler. Now I'm seeing it first hand.

What if women would be in charge instead of men, do you believe the government would be more honest and the world would be a better place?

I believe that men are mostly doing it for money or personal gain. I think women would be more honest and do it for the good of the people/planet.

I'm 99% sure there wouldn't be a war right now if it were the case.

The US is sometimes accused of having a 'third-world democracy'. While I think that's largely hyperbole, I feel like there might be a grain of truth in it - that too much power is granted to the executive. The US model does have various checks and balances thru it's tripartite division of government, I'd argue not enough, but they're there and do some kind of job, and that's not really where I want to go with this question.

What I am suggesting is that it's a tremendously dangerous model to export to other countries. Even if you believe in the US model in the US, it required a very unique set of circumstances when founded for it to work, including, importantly, a shared aim/idealogy . An executive model democracy in the second/third world is incredibly dangerous and is crippling the supposed aim of the democratic process: representative government. In terms of representing the electorate an executive democracy in the third world is hard to distinguish from a dictatorship. Thoughts?

Well, i'm american, but, my mother is just a permanent resident of the united states. My mom lived in USA for 13 years or more, but we came to live to Dominican Republic 6 years ago, though we kept on traveling to USA till 3 years ago. My mom's residence was robbed, and, even worst, now is when she remember's that the maximum time for a permanent resident to be out of USA is 12 months, and she has 36 MONTHS :S !!!
Well, i wanted to know if someone has experience on this type of things and could tell me if she can get her residence back, and how.
(If it help's, we have a lot of proof that she was in USA and my father, my brother and me are US Citizens)

Do they not realize that the Iraqi battlefield is part of the War on Terror? Do they not see that Iran is sandwhiched by 2 growing democracies on both sides?
