I don't want to hear any ignorant answers about your opinions on smokers either. I just want to know why it's okay to tax one specific group of people billions of dollars. A bunch of people will claim that smokers cost the government billions of dollars, but I assure you smokers pay in way more taxes than any government settlements or health care costs. In SD it would take 60 six packs of beer to generate the tax revenue from one carton of cigarettes. How fair is that? And now SD wants to raise the sales tax from $.53 to $1.53. We already pay more taxes on cigarettes than it costs to manufacture them.

For 40 years I considered myself a Republican, served in the military 21 years, and had a way of thinking totally different from my views today. Since George Bush and the NEOCONS have been in office, I have come to almost hating what I once was and believed in. How many other kids are in Iraq and around the world dying now because of how they were raised in philosophy? At what age does a person understand the world and the lies? Maybe I need to thank Fox News and their propaganda for setting me straight. War doesn't prove anything other than one country is stronger than the other. Heaven forbid we use our brains to resolve issues. Repuiblicans think, if you don't believe the way we do we'll eliminate you!! Would you want your child to eliminate their enemy in school? Guns, war, religion, oil, and man are the true axis of evil.

The question relates to the recent statement from Annan that "Israel's attack in Gana was simple another go at breaking international law".

I keep reading the question and answers, and it never fails that somebody will make the assertion that they should be allowed to break the law because they are hard working.

Well, guess what: I'm hard working, and so is my neighbor, and my neighbor's neighbor, and my cousing, and my grandfather, and....

We all work 60-70 hours a week, but we don't feel entitled to routinely break the laws. We don't feel intitled to not have car insurance, or to run stop lights, or not pay our taxes, or take a family member to a hospital, getting care, and then not paying for it.

Are there loafers in America? Of course, but guess what, there are loafers with the illegal immigrants, and they take advantage of social services without ever contributing one cent.

There are millions of Africans that break their backs looking for food, and the only thing keeping them from coming here illegally is the ocean. So the question, as it always has been, is the respect of our laws and sovereignty

Is it because she has the same last name as someone who brought down the Republican party to their knees TWICE or is it because she is a woman who can stand on her own, fight for what she believes in and not back down or are most Conservatives making like sheep and making their minds based upon what one Conservative thinks?

People are sad that he is dying and many also think he is some kind of great leader. What kind of great leader endangers american lives (missile crisis), doesn't let his own people leave, limit freedom of speech, and religions?/??

Why the love for Fidel? I am sad that he will die a natural death, he deserves to slowly die for what he did.

Seriously, doesn't it just 'trickle down' into increased state taxes, local taxes, or deficit? Can't we finally see through this as a nation, and say 'there is no way to spend money, without income'? I can't believe the republicans STILL convince people that they can spend, and not tax.

I posted a similar question yesterday, but nobody got it, so I want to ask everyone this question. Do you think the man in the following article would have been arrested -- in front of an office just as open to the public as a post office -- if he had said that he was there to distribute a flyer announcing that the local Girl Scout troop was selling cookies? If not, then what does this mean for all of us?
