Did you know that this country offers something known as the freedom of speech, and even idiot liberals are entitled to it. So some uniformed guys, no longer in the fight, see things different than the Department of Defense. Good for them. Differences of opinion happen all the time, and it's good to hear from people who might have some insight and perspective to offer. There is no problem with people voicing their opinions. Do the liberals think that Cindy Sheehan would make a good Defense Secretary? That's who they would pick.
What would Rumsfeld's resignation offer the liberals anyway? He doesn't need this job, he's been a lifelong public servant, he can walk away at any time... but he's a lightening rod for the liberals, and Matt Lauer and Chris Matthews have said that Rumsfeld should resign, so all the lazy thinking liberals are calling for his head. They should learn how to spell his name and use punctuation and actually ask questions, instead of puking out the same old same old that they hear being discussed on Nightline...

Just about every retired commander calls for it but active ones would just be ending their careers. Plus, the current administration will need a fall guy soon and Rumsfield will do nicely then.

Bush spoke of which way the country voted. The Democrats regain administration. He felt the lots have spoken by ability of the vote. stay the course is now no longer known. He has to discover new route or the republicans wont stand a danger contained in the subsequent presidential election. A plan of action which will stress the Iraqies to boost up the conrol of their own destiny is necessary and quickly.

Not in this country. They would loose their jobs and no longer be commanders.
It's called respect for the chain of command.
