I keep reading the question and answers, and it never fails that somebody will make the assertion that they should be allowed to break the law because they are hard working.
Well, guess what: I'm hard working, and so is my neighbor, and my neighbor's neighbor, and my cousing, and my grandfather, and....
We all work 60-70 hours a week, but we don't feel entitled to routinely break the laws. We don't feel intitled to not have car insurance, or to run stop lights, or not pay our taxes, or take a family member to a hospital, getting care, and then not paying for it.
Are there loafers in America? Of course, but guess what, there are loafers with the illegal immigrants, and they take advantage of social services without ever contributing one cent.
There are millions of Africans that break their backs looking for food, and the only thing keeping them from coming here illegally is the ocean. So the question, as it always has been, is the respect of our laws and sovereignty

I grew up with a boy who came from a wonderful family. They were active in their church and all hardworking people....
This guy was very hardworking and began working at 15, after school, to save money for college.
By the time he was murdered by his best friend at the age of 28, he had killed several dozen people. He was in a very sophisticated "MOB".
Being hardworking does not equate to deserving amnesty. Being hardworking does not give you any free pass. Being hardworking is not the excuse. Being hardworking is actually required of everyone on the planet who is capable. Being hardworking is a given...so don't pass that one any more..I don't give a damn...Illegal is illegal...I don't care how hard they work....

when i use the phrase "hardworking people" to refer to immigrant workers, i'm actually refering to what i have seen and experienced. people who i know have tried hard to hire legal american citizens (white people, born here) to do low level jobs, but that often doesn't work well because those people show up late, call in sick frequently (or just don't show up), don't do their job, complain about the work, take long breaks, do their job so poorly that someone has to redo it, etc. so they hire immigrants (those with tax ID #'s, regardless of legal status), despite the problematic language barrier, and find that they are committed to their work. they show up on time, do the work that they've been assigned without complaining and do good work.
labor is a major problem for people who run small businesses in this country (such as restaurants and small production shops). many small businesses fail because it is difficult to find reliable employees who can get the job done for a wage that allows the company to break even. i've seen this repeatedly with my own family members and friends who try to run small businesses, so i'm not stereotyping when i say that immigrant workers are hard working. that is simply what i observe in these situations over and over again.
plenty of hardworking legal citizens feel entitled to not have car insurance, run stop lights, not pay taxes and take a family member to the hospital and not pay for it. these things happen all the time regardless of where someone came from, where they live and their citizenship status. the only "law" that illegal immigrants break that citizens don't break is the fact that they live and work here without a visa, greencard or US birth certificate. Not all laws are right, and this is an example of one that should be considered more carefully and adjusted to fit the situation that we actually live in. another example of such a law is the speed limit. it changes as the times change. speaking of which, legal citizen, did you never drive over the speed limit?

Yes, the illegals are soooooooooo hardworking. That's why California taxpayers cough up over 10.5 BILLION DOLLARS a year...yes I said TEN AND ONE HALF BILLION DOLLARS A YEAR, to provide social services for illegal aliens. Those services encompass food stamps for illegals and their illegal anchor babies, housing, medical care--as they use the emergency room like it was the family doctor, education--too bad it's a wasted investment as studies show that over 70% of the anchor babies/illegal children drop out before they finish high school, and last but not the very least, the cost of imprisoning illegal aliens who comprise over 30% of California's prison population.
The majority of the time if the illegals are working, unless the illegals are your run of the mill day labor center type worker, they have STOLEN some unsuspecting American's Social Security number in order to work. Perhaps you didn't hear of the California woman whose identity was sold and used by 61 illegal aliens. The Social Security Administration, rather than prosecute the illegals and clear the poor woman's name, decided to do what they generally only do for those in the Witness Protection Program. They gave her a new Social. Those 61 illegals are still out there, unprosecuted, merrily living off of an American citizen's stolen identity. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident. I know two people personally who have had their identities hijacked by illegal aliens--those poor, honest, hard-working people who only want to come here for a better life. It's too bad they can't do it without YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS America. These two people are being hounded by debt collectors and threatened by the I.R.S. for debt that doesn't even belong to them and they are receiving absolutely NO help from the government or law enforcement in their attempt to regain their identities and their lives.
Yes those poor, hard-working, honest illegals. Bend over and grease up America. You think California has problems? Wait until they decide to settle in a city near you. Our problems will be your problems unless you pull yourselves up off the couch, turn off American Idol, and become politically active. Demand accountability from your elected representation.; Stop waiting for someone else to fight this invasion for you. Call your Congressman and your Senators today and tell them you support H.R. 4437. Tell them that if they expect to keep their cushy jobs, they will too.

THANK YOU,
Obviously labor intensive jobs will seem to the eye as hard work not to mention this is a mass sterotype. Just the same as saying blacks are lazy.
It has nothing to do with the actual argument that we shouldn't allow people to break the law.
It's a matter of law, and to the actual hard-working thing that is a matter of perspective, I'm sure a researcher that sits on his *** all day and only moves a computer mouse works hard even though he dosen't break a sweat. If you want to look at it, illegal labor intensivists dont have to use their brain so they arent working hard.

Your question and answer does make a lot of sense and i've argued this over and over again; illegal is illegal there's no excuse why someone wants to cover up the already bad thing they've done by sneeking into another country against it's own will and then later complain because the govt is mad about it. They do not pay taxes, or claim.... I agree there are lots of africans who are here illegally but you don't see them acting like that. They are trying their best to become citizens---anywhich way.

AMEN
I work hard but I still have to stop at stop signs and red lights...if I crossedover to mexico bypassing the boarder crossing I would be beaten and thrown in jail.
But I forgot illegal immigrants deserve more than a citizen because immigrants say so....lilly-livered liberals need to suck up the fact that just because someone wants a better life is no reason to decide you are immune from all laws and rules, which is bad enough but then DEMAND that the citizens get on their hands and knees and kiss that immigrant backside

Then why not take every loafer in America that's able to work but chooses not to, and trade them in for an illegal so he/she can get legalized and work for this country to make it a better place for them. Whats the use of having loafers around collecting welfare.??

What a low life scum sucking looser you are. Call a duck a duck yes they are illegal but get to the REAL issue pinhead...THE EMPLOYERS THAT HIRE THEM! Think about, THE employer or person that hires them enables them to come to America! So the next time you have a gardening service, low price contractor or buy ice cream off of that ice cream truck YOU are the problem BECAUSE you give them the money to live on.

Yeah, and the "they are just poor, honest people". BULLSHIT! They are NOT honest,or they wouldn't have sneaked into the country illegally! They would not be STEALING people's social security numbers.
And, since WHEN does being 'poor', give anyone the right to break the law?
There are millions of crimes committed by illegals!
