I know how there is a lot of you out there who think keeping a primate is wrong, I disagree. I think that if you can provide a primate a good home plenty of attention, affection, a large area to play, run, and swing, and if you have the money to provide it with everything it needs then no I dont see a problem here. I was here reading a question someone posted about "CHEAP" formula for a capuchin.. I strongly agree this person should not have this animal that they can not provide for it and if they can not afford formula then they are probably not being able to provide very well for themselves. There is no "CHEAP" formula. Baby Capuchins should be on Enfamil infant formula and also extra vitamins to get the nutrients they need. I was asked a question that I really did not know the answer to the other day. If getting a monkey from a good breeder and it is vet checked and passed can it still pass diseases to us humans and if so what kind?and where do they get the diseases? Anyone know?

I have been doing some reasearch into animal testing and come across another shocking discovery. The companys who supply your cat and dog food use cats and dogs to to test there products, but the way they use them are so cruel they have't to go through such painful torture. An investigation went undercover to the company who supply iams(BEWARE they found cats and dogs left piled on a filthy chipped floor dead after having chuncks of muscle hacked from their thighs, dogs surgically debarked(meaning voice box had been removed) and left in their cages to go stir crazy.People who own pets obviously love them so why are we buying from these companys to support whats going on behind closed doors, they make out they are giving the best to our pets, but they are so hypocritica.,All they care about is making money out of our animals. Please write to these companys and tell them you will not be buying there products.

My boyfriend (my rabbits foster dad) just left the country. Now my rabbit just wants to sit in my room and doesn't want to do much else. Is it possible that he is missing his dad? Can rabbits have feelings like that?

we found out on saturday last that our female syrian hamster (patches) has a large cancerous growth which has overtaken her front left paw and leg.
she is bright and bubbly at the moment but appetite is not up to much.
the vet has said that they could remove the paw and leg but there is a high risk she would not survive and advised me to take her home and give her what quality time that i could - this is what i am doing at the moment.
i hate to think that she is suffering but she seems to be her normal self at the moment.
she is walking around okay on her leg at the moment and when down the vet was climbing all over him - did not like him i think?
what do you think would be the best thing.
patches is the first hamster i have had since my daughter was born 9 years ago - we are trying to get catherine to like furry animals starting with the very small as she is nervous of them and she loves patches. please please give me some advice

I just had an argument with my chimp, he waved his arms in the air a bit, made a screeching noise, and while I wasnt looking , took my car keys! I just saw him take the car! Should I call the police?

Few months ago my boy bunny also had a desex surgery, but there were no stiches, and he could walk and eat well just straight after the surgery.

On the other hand, it is really heartbreaking to see my girl bunny just lying there with no appetite. She only drank a very small quantity of water since the surgery.

Also, I wasn't happy with the veteranian as she gave her a tattoo on the ear without my permission. :(

My rabbit, to my understanding, has pretty much reached adulthood. He was never aggressive with me until one day he snapped at me and another day he actually managed to bite my finger very hard. I was very offended and worried. How am I supposed to take care of my once loving rabbit if he keeps being so aggressive towards me? Help! :S

My little mini-lop Clover escaped about ten months ago when two huge dogs attacked her hutch and ripped part of the roof off. Now, ten months later, she has come back - I don't know where she has been, as I searched for her for weeks everywhere I could think of, and had food out for months in case she came home. But back in her hutch she seems sad - maybe bad memories? She is cuddled lots every day, let roam on a bunny leash and given many treats and much affection and grooming. I now have two seal point mini-lops who are sisters, who I will introduce to Clover once she has been given the all-clear health-wise, but is there anything I can do to make her feel safe and at home again?

Hi,
I'm an eventer looking to buy a new horse. I recently found one, a 6 year old TB mare, that has been eventing at the Training level and is moving up to Prelim in March. She's a FANTASTIC jumper - she hasn't had any jump or XC penalties at all. However, she hasn't had very good dressage scores (she's only competed in 3 events, earning a 62.20, 47.89, and 51.60). I am looking for a solid Training/Prelim competitor. This horse has also competed at 3'6" jumpers throughout the winter so far, earning many 1st places. I think she might be able to be an upper level competitor, but I'm wondering if the dressage can be fixed. She's priced at $10,000. What do you guys think - should I buy her? She's only 6 years old, so her dressage might be able to be improved (Owner said she was just nervous at her 1st few events. Owner is an advanced level eventer). Thanks in advance.

I just purchased two baby rats from my local pet store yesterday. They are both very scared and I've been letting them smell my hands and holding them for a few minutes at a time to let them get used to me. I've read that to get them to understand that I'm friendly I should give them treats. The problem is, they won't eat any of the treats I've offered. I've offered a bit of apple, a cornflake, one of those little yogurt bites, and a few other similar things. They sniff them but won't even taste them.

Is there something else I can try? Am I doing it wrong? They don't seem to understand what the treat is or maybe they just don't want it.

I have a gorgeous Russian Dwarf hamster (female) and everyone loves her, I decided to breed her, as a few friends have requested to have one for her babies. I bought another Russian Dwarf (male) and after an hour of being in the same cage, he was all over my female. He wouldnt stop humping her for a minute! She didnt seem to be happy about it or very willing (but she didnt fight with him) so Im nto sure if she is pregnant! That was Jan 1st, which means by now she should be fatter, but shes not really. But shes gone insane! Hiding all the food, nesting and shes really jumpy. But her tummy isnt firm or bigger. They havent tried to mate again, yet she isnt fat yet... Im sooooo confused. Is she pregnant, or is she going crazy?!

I have a 9 month old Netherland Dwarf doe, and just got a 2 month old Dwarf Hotot. Aspen, my ND keeps jumping the baby. Any suggestions? I've had them in seperate cages side by side for a week and she still jumps her when put together. I've tried on neutral ground and she's better but wants to jump at her. However since I'm right there with her, she wont do it. Any suggestions on how I can get them to bond?

My horse, that i lease at my barn that i've been at for a few years, the paddocks are in seriously bad condition.
The paddock is complete mud, somtimes up the their knees, if the rain recently was bad enough. The other paddocks have have huge loads of woodchips thrown in there, and htats worked very VERY well. But, the position of my horses paddock makes i impossible for these people to dump to woodchips in the paddock (ie. can't get through gate, and can't even get truck near gate.)
I wanted to know if there was a way i coul help this paddock, maybe clean it up a bit, dry it out, or at least drain out the excess water.
I was going to shovel drainage ditches in the side of the paddock, for the water to drain, but, in the area that its the worst, is right above a hill where the ring is, and i don't want the wanter to go from the paddock, and then drain into the ring. Anyone have any solutions i could do? (Not my barn, i'm just going to voluenter time to fix it up.)
