Few months ago my boy bunny also had a desex surgery, but there were no stiches, and he could walk and eat well just straight after the surgery.

On the other hand, it is really heartbreaking to see my girl bunny just lying there with no appetite. She only drank a very small quantity of water since the surgery.

Also, I wasn't happy with the veteranian as she gave her a tattoo on the ear without my permission. :(

Since the male rabbits sexual parts are on the outside they do not need stiches after a neuter. The vet opens the scrotum and removes the testicles and it is done.
With a female the uterus and ovaries are inside the abdomen and have to be removed. The incision needs to be stiched up.
The bunny should be fine a a day or two. I have had many females spayed and they are so much happier after. It takes a day or two for them to be feeling better but most times after a day they are back to normal.
As for the tattoo it may have been done to show that the bunny has been spayed or for identification purposes. Ask the vet why it was tattooed and if it is registered somewhere.

A spay is a lot more involved than a neuter. Expect her to be a bit quiet for at least the day. Did the vet give her pain meds? These can make a huge difference in terms of the recovery time. My vet usually gives a shot of a 12-24 hour pain med and it's enough in my experience but some rabbits may need more over the next day or two.

Keep her in a warm place and give her lots of TLC. Keep an eye on her stitches to make sure she's not chewing them If she does, remove the toe out of an old tube sock, cut some leg holes for her front legs and use it like a body stocking. A crepe bandage works as well depending on how big the rabbit is. Be sure to have some food available so that she can eat when she feels up to it.

The neutering on your boy is a lot less complicated of a surgery than on your girl. On boys you can hardly notice the incision because females have them in and boys out in simple terms. Here is a webpage that shows both proceedures on dogs and cats and you can see the difference and understand.

The veet probably tattooed the bunny for id purposes. Though he should have said something it is a method to keep tract of who is really who.

How else do you think that a spay was going to happen? The uterus and ovaries are INTERNAL just like on you. A males testicles are outside the body and no sutures are needed. As for the tatoo that may be the vet's protocol. If you are unhappy maybe you should ask why it was done without your consent

0 I had chocolate yet no longer bunnies i'd get achocolate billby as billby are endangered. Rabbits are a pest in Australia. So in Western Queensland even as i grow to be there at Easter time they have the Easter Billby. notwithstanding the genuine reason behind Easter is Jesus is Alive.

The stitches are not abnormal. My girl cat had them on her stomach too. They left a bit of a scar that is still slightly visible when you inspect her tummy and she's 3 years old now (she had the surgery at 4 months old).

In mammals in general, ovaries, which are removed in spaying, are internal organs, as opposed to testicles, which are essentially external. Your vet did what you asked; before you blame her for the tattoo, make sure it isn't required in your area. If your bunny gets lost some day, you'll thank her for it.

The surgery for boys is much easier, because the organs are not in the tummy, they are outside.
