Please please PLEASE read as much as you can about them before deciding to get them. They are neat animals, and they're pretty easy to care for, but they have some special needs that not everyone is able to give them.
Far too many of them end up dying slow, painful deaths within a couple of years because the people who buy them don't know enough about them, and they end up killing them with their ignorance.

Well i have hermit crabs and here's what to do:
1.you need a glass tank and a heater
2. 3 hermit crab bowls from a pet store(1 with food,1 with water, and 1 with water and sponge.
3.hermit crabs love to climb so give them hermit crab logs(you'll see at a pet store)
4.a few extra shells just a little bit bigger than it's current one.
5.replace the food in their food bowl daily.
6.just get them regular hermit crab food, but they also LOVE people food such as peanuts ,fruits ,ect.
7.and if you need anything else go to www.hermitcrabs.com that's where I always look.
8. also,give them a variety of food.

We were considering getting some but my youngest is scared of them lol but I did research on them and talk to the petstore people about them and they make wonderful pets but they do require constant care. You can't just throw them in a tank with rocks, water and food and expect them to live. Bigger tanks work better, the more room they have to move around is better. They don't like to be alone. They will eat just about anything there are just certain things that they need vitamin wise from foods but most will eat anything and I mean anything. They need to be given baths and the aquariums need to be cleaned. The temp in the tank has to be right or they may dry out or get to hot and die. Just do lots of research and talk to the petstore people about it.

We had what might be described as a plastic acquarium for them. I put gravel in it and laid two shells on the gravel, one for water and one for hermit crab food, which you can buy at the pet store. We kept a hollow piece of wood type stuff in there for them to climb on, hide in, gnaw on, or whatever it is they do. The most important thing is that you keep water in there, and I would occasionally spray water inside the tank. Oh, and you need to keep some bigger shells in there than the ones they're already in. They'll grow and need bigger shells to move into. And they like company, so buy at least two. They're really entertaining.

You should consult a crab psychologist about this, but, generally, one of the things you have to watch out for is a crab bucket mentality.
If the crab turns out to not be a very good pet, there are other ways to love a crab.

easiest pets on earth probly, they eat dry musli , all they need is a small fish tank to live in, sawdust on the bottom of the cage or tank, and a little dish of water with sea salt grains in it and maybe a rock or plastic plant for them to dig under.. done! .. just refill food and water once gone and change sawdust once is dirty or really wet. and some bigger shells for them to move into.
