Beauty is in the eye of the beholer, but we all have our reasoning for thinking something is gorgeous. I'd like to know the reasons behind the attractions to cats and dogs that look like they've run into one too many walls face first.
I'm NOT insulting the breeds, but I do wonder, sparked by my friend claiming her dog *that I find absolutely GORGEOUS* is ugly, and that her purebred dog *Lhasa apso, she says, but the dog's appearance says otherwise* course-curly-coated blonde flatfaced dog is prettier than this long legged mutt with a short yet plush *think teddy-bear fur* coat and a nose more than a cm out from her forehead.*these dogs are half siblings, btw* I don't see it and I couldn't get her to tell me why the dog I thought was pretty was bellow the level of this short legged beast with a horrible underbite that makes her look incredibly mean *and yes, she's mean*
I'm not saying anyone's wrong, I just don't get the idea of a dog/cat with a lack of face, really.

Is it okay to keep a feeder rat/mouse as a pet? the rats and mice that i have seen there, which will grow up to be snake food, are actually treated strangely well. they have hides, tubes and wheel. i doubt that they are socialized but im pretty sure they would be tamable. so, is it okay to keep a feeder rat as a pet?

also, what gallon measure aquarium would be appropriate for two rats?

I just got two female GPs last week. They freak out when I even come near the cage. The short haired isn't quite as bad, but the Abyssinian goes berzerk. I don't mistreat them and I take the time to cuddle them everyday. I feel so bad about it. How long did it take for your pigs to get used to you? Did you do anything special to help this process along?

I have been told to feed him raw meat because he needs it. He doesn't seem to think so and will not touch anything raw!
He isn't skinny or unwell and is playful, so does it really matter or not?

Okay so I have 2 horses and I find it so funny that when one pees, poops, rolls, the other one does it right after. Have any of your horse people experienced this? It's just so funny.

I purchased a Thoroughbred this past summer, when I looked at him he was in somewhat thin condition but not bad, about a month later I decided I wanted the horse but was unable to pick him up right away because of some legal matter from previous owner, had to wait for the horse to be free and clear, when I finally was able to puchase my horse he had drop a lot of weight and was extremely thin and all cut up and bite mark, Immediately had him worked and put on a feed program, the previous owner said she no longer hassd the fund to puchase feed for him, so he went without for several, several weeks, nevertheless, he received cripped oats, low sugar sweet feed, AM and PM good hay both Alfalfa and good grass hay, plus some carrots and apples, starting putting on the pounds right now he look great, but sorry my ??? whenever his hay and feed is eaten he will start to eat his own manure, he does this all the time, is he missing something, is it a nasty habit, he is not going un-fed as before

He refuses to keep his food in his bowl - he dumps it on the floor of the cage and eats it. Does anyone else have this problem? Also, he loves for people to pet him, but he refuses to allow anyone to actually pick him up and hold him. Does anyone have any suggestions? Also, should I try to bathe him in any way?

I found a government website that is horses for "adoption" in Wyoming. Min bid is $125 sounds like an auction to me. Anyone been to it? Is it worth going? Can you buy young horses (colts... ect) or is it just bigger horses. If it was worth the trip I was thinking about going (I'm from TX so its a long trip), but I dont want to waste my time

Our topic next term is animals and we would like someone to come into school to show the children some wildlife or pets, so that they can handle them and hear about their care, habitat and natural living enviornment, We are an inner city school and the children have a very limited experience of animals beyond dogs and cats. This would really help them.

My dwarf hamsters gave birth to a litter last weekend. I've been hearing mixed things about weather or not to leave the male hamster in the tank with the female and the babies. He's proven to be a very good father and helps keep them warm but I know there are other reprocussions of leaving him in such as him getting her pregnant again too soon. So, what should I do? Leave him in or take him out? I just don't want to upset the female because they seem to "love" eachother and have bonded very strongly. What would you do?

And if you do, do you wrap it?
Do you get your pet's picture take with Santa?

I have a dog and we go give him a new toy for Christmas but we do not wrap it. He was our one and only for several years before we had kids so I feel that he deseves some special consideration as part of our family. But, why do some people wrap them? Or get the Santa pics? They are doing this at the mall now.
Our dog also gets a special meal (yummy canned food instead of the usual boring kibble) for his birthday. He doesn't understand but we feel good about it.
