Okay so I have 2 horses and I find it so funny that when one pees, poops, rolls, the other one does it right after. Have any of your horse people experienced this? It's just so funny.

Yeah. I think part of it is that they only roll if the feel safe, like when another horse is on gaurd duty. So its like "You look out for scarey stuff while I roll, then you can roll and I'll watch"

This will be dependant on the sex of your horses. this is a territiory and a dominance issue. Often times mares will pee on the same area as other mares marking dominance. Geldlings will poop on other piles and urinate on them marking territory. Look on the bright side- less piles to clean and less dirty areas for the horses.

They're marking territory. Ever notice when you put a horse back in a clean stall, first thing it does is make manure or pee? Same thing.

YESSS!!!! And my horses are the worst about peeing on their hay! It's like they try to screw each other over. When we put out new hay, one will go and pee on it then the other one comes over and pees on it back.

my horses do it too, at least with rolling. they are pack animals, and so they like to do things the same. horses keep things interesting, at least!

Yes, it happens everyday. Its usually the dominate one that will go first, its a learned behavior.
