I work at a place where people bring in stray animals all the time and before we take them to the Humane Society, we can decide if we want them or not. Well someone brought in a pretty white rabbbit that you can tell was someone's pet and said they found it outside by a garbage can. The people who were there when the rabbit was brought in are not sure if they believed the kids story, but I decided to take the rabbit home.
I then began to worry about if the rabbit might have rabies. It's very friendly and has not bitten me yet and it was pretty clean and obviously well taken care of. Does anyone know of ways to tell if it may have rabies without taking it to a vet just by it's actions?

My rabbit is indoors in a 2 story cage. I've read that it isn't good for their feet to be on the wire all the time. So, I tried putting a piece of the sticky linoleum on the top for him. He chewed it up. Tried putting a towel in, he drags it down by his litter box, and it ends up covered in poop. I'm not going to bother with a piece of carpet remnant, figure that would be pointless. I've seen at the pet store they make something for that purpose, anyone know if it works? Think he'll chew it up? Any other suggestions?
Thanks!!

I saw the previews and the video on CMT and it is such a beautiful horse. I think I had the Breyer model when I was younger but I can't remember what breed it was. Anyone know?

ive had this floppy eared rabbit for the last 2 years. he has long one inch soft fur, yet only short about 1cm on the area of his forhead. winter is getting near and he is shedding like crazy, he usually only shed during the summer, but oddly he has begun for the last 3 weeks shedding by the millions and one of these days i noticed on the side of his belly (a litte more above, but on the side) he looked like as if he was missing an extra spot of fur, i looked closer and it wasnt at all a bald spot, but instead a round spot about the size of a quarter, all covered with only short 1cm inch fur, like the type on his forehead. i noticed he has the same thing on the opposite side, its symetrical therefore.

i looked in other spots on his body and he has some spots under the long hair where there is short hair and some spots that there arent any short hair at all...so my rabbit is growing a mix of long and short. he looks kinda wierd, fine with me, but....

my question is: is this normal??

Is there anything wrong? She's my first hamster, and is eating fine and is running around as usual. Any ideas?

I was looking into getting a pet snake, but now I'm not sure since I found out what the lifespan of a pet snake is. I was reading ball pythons can live as long as 40 years in captivity, average being about 20 to 30 years.

When I'm leading my horse from the field to the stable he frequently puts his head on my shoulder, or blows in my ear. Does anyone know what this means? Is it a sign of affection, is he trying to eat me?

I was recently given a rescue rat, about 1 year old. He was abused and lived with a nasty cat, so he is naturally quite fearful. We are working on overcoming his fear and occaisional aggression. I'm very fond of him already, poor guy, and have high hopes. Everything I read suggests having more than one rat, and I wonder if it would help or hinder the process if he had a buddy. Additionally, I am considering neutering, and wonder if it's best to wait until after he loses his other "little buddies" before introducing another rat (maybe even a ladyfriend?). I think we are doing well with the socialization, lots of little victories, and he is very meticulous about housekeeping, which he never did in the shelter (he huffed and bit and scratched the staff, and consequently was never handled there, either), so I think he is doing great. But is not having friends causing him distress? Would it help our bonding if there were another little guy in there, getting played with and handled?
