Still go to local vets and ask around.....When you volunteer your time they wont care about your grades, but they will tell you to get them up if you want to stay in this field and become a veterinarian. get those D's and E off your record, you still have a year or two left of school. Try hard.....if you really want to become a veterinarian bad enough you will get those grades up....

You don't say whether you're in the UK or US.
Either way, if you're that determined, don't give up. There are ways you can still do it. Find out what the vet schools would accept. Can you go on to the next level (A levels in the UK) with those grades and if you did and if you pass them well would the vet school accept you. If they won't, then would they accept re-sits?
If they won't accept re-sits do a round-about kind of route. I did vet science as my second degree. I got poor A level results and did a degree in Zoology first. Some vet schools may let you transfer after just 1 year but others may not. You may have to find funds to pay for a 2nd degree after completion of a first one, which is literally thousands of pounds.
Again, don't lose hope. There are thousands or charities out there and with a bit of determination and lots of SAEs you can get a little from a lot of places.
Also, try other countries. I found that (from the UK) Canada accepted much lower A level grades than the vet schools in the UK because the qualifications were of a higher standard. There were also many more grants to study in a different country.

You need to get yourself a really good careers advisor, most of them will tell you if you haven't got the grades then you can't do it, but YOU CAN.

One last thought though - vet school isn't all that easy. Is there a reason your grades were less than expected or do you think if you tried again you would get the same? A young girl whorks at my surgery and is in the same situation as you. She is desprate to be a vet but everyone knows she just isn't bright enough. She won't accept it though.

as everyone said, you need to try again. A veterinarian is a tough job. I have researched it thoroughly, and for years since that is what i want to be as well. I am even taking extra classes that will help me get into a good college. I suggest you help out at local animal shelters/ vet offices as well. That is an important part of a vet application to colleges, volunteering.
However, with those grades, you are not going to be able to get into a good college, if any, for veterinarians because the competition is already hard enough. Remember, college is harder that high school, and vets have at least 6 yrs of college, most do 8 yrs. Pick your grades and your study skills up. IF you want to be able to be a vet, theres no slacking off now.

You probably know this already but there are only twelve vet schools in the entire US. Each one can only take so many students each year so it is actually much harder to get into vet school than into medical school.

You need to go back to school and finish high school. A GED won't cut it because you need to have taken lots of math and science courses to apply to vet school. Go back to school and work very hard and ask for help - see if your school offers tutoring or other services for students with academic difficulty. Another thing you should do is try to get some experience in a vet office setting. Vet schools require that you have some experience with what a vet actually does. You'll have to contact you local vet or animal shelter with a vet clinic and see if they will let you volunteer.

You're going to have to resit your exams i'm afraid. My sister-in-law works at the royal veterinary college in London. Ther competition for places is so high. You need really good GCSE grades and then some pretty excellent a-level results. Another way of showing you were committed would be to find a nearby vets or animal rescue centre that would let you do some voluntary work at weekends. This will always look good on your CV when you apply for college or university.

Get a tutor for math, chemistry, and biology. If you're not good in these three things, then you need to plan on getting better otherwise you will never make it through your bachelor's degree, nonetheless through vet school. At state college (which have basically the lowest requirements) you have to keep at least a C average while getting your bachelor's degree. I think you have to keep a B average in vet school.

You still have undergrad schooling, and that is where it really counts. But vet school is harder to get into than med school. Good luck. I would suggest talking to your vet about how they got into school, but your ACT/SAT are going to be more important than letter grades.
