I'm researching to get a dog. I'd like a small to medium size breed that can handle 10 hours at home alone without destroying anything. It's gotta be good with kids as well. If anybody has any recommendations, post your answer.

My neighbors are letting their two outside dogs starve to death. We have called Animal Control and the Cruelty Officer came out and she said that she has to talk face to face to the owners of the dogs first before she can do anything. I cannot stand to watch these two animals suffer like this. Whenever we can we sneak food and water down to them when the owners are not home. They have no shelter and we live in Ohio and it has benn getting colder. What should I do?

I have a shetland sheepdog and she is a bit scared of other dogs so i need a kind natured puppy with a good temperament. any ideas???

I have a 10 weeks old German Shepherd pup. Gunner was purchased from a breeder...has a pedigree,insurance,2 year health guarentee and parents are OVC hip and elbow certified....CKC papers. I have noticed when I am walking him...he is a little timid around people....but eventually warms up to them...When he sees another dog he barks and grows continuously....tries to nip. He does this to our poodle mix, with her it is just playing but am not sure what it is with the other dogs?....could it be a fear stage he is going through?...mind the other dogs usually bark back,well the puppies do anyway. I can't tell if it is play or aggressive as he plays like that with my smaller dog? Any Suggestions....He is also in obedience training

i have 2 females and 1 male.
*1 female is half german shepard and husky, spayed, about 2 years old, very loving nature.
*other female is mixed with pit bull and is aout 2 1/2 years old, good watch dog.
*male is 2nd female's son and is about 1 1/2 yrs old.
i am desperately seeking good homes for my dogs and am no longer able to care for them. if you or anyone you know wants a good dog, and are in or around the indianapolis area, please let me know.

I have had my dog(cute chihuahua) for 3 years. The first time I tried to fix her the vet said she needed to go through her first heat. Then I moved (military ) and she got ran over last year so I couldn't do it to so after as she was recovering. Now it seems when she is in heat she smells like rotten fish! Its awful. Bathing does not help. Its almost like she knows because she licks herself non stop and keeps her tail in between her legs. Any ideas or thoughts?

My 4 month old puppy won't stop biting. Sometimes to the point where she draws blood.

Putting a stuffed animal or bone in her mouth doesn't distract her for long.

I volunteer at a shelter where stray dogs are taken in and after they are unclaimed I get to put them up for adoption which means giving them a name.

What do you think are the most appealing dog names? I like to give them real names, Wylie, Raymond, Nigel, Bessie, etc. I'm not a fan of names like Fluffy, Bubbles, Fido, Max etc. I always try to make sure the names are two syllables as they say its easier for dogs to recognize their names.

Dumb question I know.. but I'm curious.

The top of my dogs head sometimes is hot. Its not like this all the time, or after anything in particular took place. She does not act sick, nose is wet and cold, as usual. Have had dog for 7 years, and I just noticed this in the past couple of months. Any ideas?

i'm planning to get a dog, but what dog is calm, sheds little, can be home alone, enrgetic but not hyper, good with kids, doesn't bark alot, and such. i know that this a lot to ask for but if there is a dog with most of these characteristics then i might take it.
