We recently had my fiance's cat shaved because of heavy matting. His is a maincoon with long beautiful fur. About how long do you think it will take for his fur to grow at least to a length he doesnt feel naked? He was shaved to the skin in some spots but mostly he is buzzed. So it is very short. His fur in total legth (grown out) would approx. be maybe 4 to 5 inches. Any one able to help?

One more "trucking" question...I'm going on road long hauling for a few years, and we want to get a "truck dog" to join us. What is the best breed for this? I don't want to be unfair to the dog (example a high energy breed) and I know there are some out there that make excellent truck dogs. Have you heard of any? Any advice?

We have a 5 year old cat, with clear eyes. She walks into walls and doors, and I played with her the other night with a pen, when I touched her with it, she would bat at it with her paws, but when I moved it away, she was still batting at nothing, like it was still there. But when we walk into a room she puts her arms up to have us pick her up, so this makes me think mabe she can see.She doesn't have a haze or anything on her eyes.I will be taking her to the vet, but until then, any suggestions?

My horse is turned out 24hrs a day untill Nov, people on the yard are having there horses clipped around the end of October. Does this sound right? If so how many times a year do you have a horse clipped?

I get scared sometimes because my pit goes after my 5lb chi-poo out of jealousy and I figure that when/if she gets done with her, who's next? my twin girls? I am not afraid of my dog, these are things going through my head, also, is it true that in her first heat or after she turns a year old, she will get more aggressive? With small kids (4 yrs old) I can't have that. Your opinions and suggestions are appreciated.

well i needto find ways of making her more tame, i hold her everyday but she struggles real bad and hisses at me, i was gong to let her have a bit more excersize by letting her out in my room for a while, the only problem would be catching her again, as i cant leave her out to long as she would get cold and if she gets under my wardrobe or anything i cant get to her, any ideas on how i could tame her better ?

I got a call yesterday from a woman who had a banded watersnake caught in netting over her pond, managed to untangle it and get it home, put some gentimicin ointment on it and set it up in a very simple, very clean cage with a -small- water dish so it wouldn't be able to submerge (No bleeding wounds, but some oozy-looking spots and some gouges on it's head and some areas where it nearly rubbed it's scales off.

Anyone else deal with anything like this and have additional ideas or suggestions on rehabbing?

Not to worry, once I see that it's looking healed up and has a few decent meals, I'll be letting it go somewhere where hopefully it will never see a net again.
