We have a 5 year old cat, with clear eyes. She walks into walls and doors, and I played with her the other night with a pen, when I touched her with it, she would bat at it with her paws, but when I moved it away, she was still batting at nothing, like it was still there. But when we walk into a room she puts her arms up to have us pick her up, so this makes me think mabe she can see.She doesn't have a haze or anything on her eyes.I will be taking her to the vet, but until then, any suggestions?

Go to the vet. This could be serious. If it was "my Stimpy" , I wouldn't hesitate. Good luck man.

If it was cateracts you'd see fogginess in the pupils. Ours is diabetic and we can see them in his, but he seems to still see ok for the most part.

The vet should be able to see if the inner tapeum (sp?) is still attached at the back of the eye, sometimes a sharp blow can disattach it and the eye can't see as a result. There could be something else wrong as well, but an eye check by the vet will be the most reliable.

5 years old isn't very old, so 'old age' isn't a cause. It's possible it's a side effect from a medical condition, your vet will probably want to run a blood panel to see how all the organs are working.

It's possible that this is a neurological disorder, causing a loss of coordination. You should make a vet appointment for her.

Also, I had a cat that went partially blind and deaf, and she could still catch mice. We are assuming she did it by smell and sensing vibrations with her whiskers. If your kitty is going blind, she'll still know when you've come into the room.
