My boss practices law and has his own office. I am his only employee. He has a dog that he takes to work everyday, who is just 2 years old, very active, and jumps at all the clients that come in. Besides this whole scene, it has a very strong smell. I can see people getting annoyed but my boss just doesn't seem to care.

I have previous experience with birds. (Finches, doves, cockateils).
I have a 3-yr old daughter, 2 dogs, 2 cats and currently 3 birds.
I work M-F, 8-5.
I am not afraid of being bitten or scratched.
I know of a good avian vet.
I have the means to provide cage/toys/nutrition/care needed by birds.
I know that parrots require more time and effort that other bird species.

Basically, I just need more suggestions on the kind of parrot I should get depending on the information above. I do not think a cockatoo would be right because I am not home during the day and they require much attention. I want a bird larger than a cockatiel but not so big as a macaw. Does any one have any suggestions??

I also want a good natured bird becasue I want my daughter to be able to visit (supervised of course) with the bird as well.

Please offer your suggestions. Thank you!!!

OK, here's the story - the cat is 19 years old (!). he was always active & very trim, and ate like a pig. not big on human food, except dairy (yogurt, mayo, oil). he always eats dry food, despite his teeth being 19 years old. he usually licks the gravy out of wet food & MAYBE eats some of the meat, if he's super hungry. but he does like IAMS canned food & usually eats all of that up.
about 6 weeks ago, the vet said he had an overactive thyroid, and that's why he was so thin. the predicted outcome was that he would put on some weight and stop urinating in such large quantities. with meds, the urinating has decreased, but he lost half a pound! he doesn't drink as much & hasn't been eating wet food - barely even licking the gravy out. i've tried all different kinds of food - cat & human- that he usually loves, but no go. when i go to the kitchen, he comes in hoping for food. but no matter what i give him, he takes a lick or two, and that's it. HELP!!!

In a week or so, we are getting a rescue cat, shes a spayed/neutured 1yr old female. We have an 11yr old yorkie already. He's so placid and laid back, but I'd like some advice on introducing them to each other?

Obviously we'll make sure we are still making a fuss of our dog at the same time, but its leaving them together for the first time thats worrying me? any advice?

I will give one example...this morning I left for work putting the pup in his crate with his bed and toys. I was gone for one hour and when I arrived home I could still hear him crying or even screaming...I get to my room and look at the crate...its empty...he escaped and he had somehow jumped onto my bed (he can NEVER usually jump that high) and he was stuck in the blinds barking out the window with his paw tangle up in them as well....my room had been trashed and he even had been up on top of my dresser...how can he jump so high?? After I untangled him from his prison he was frantic...panting...bouncing...crazy. I was only gone for an hour...I left work because I wasnt feeling well....and what if I would have not come back so soon...he might be dead. How can I control him...? Should I just get a babysitter...It seems after many tries something just like this always happens...what should I do???

My cat likes to lick empty plastic grocery bags. (Even if they've never had any food in them.) Is this a symptom of something wrong, or just a 'cat behavior' kind of thing?

He needs his claws because he loves to hunt. He's presently cut off from the living room that contains the sofas, but I want to let him in there eventually..

If I'm going to let my outdoor cat come into my apartment and still have access to the outside, he MUST come through the bedroom.

I tried letting hiim last night, but he would not let me alone while I tried to sleep. Is there any way to teach him not to do this?

I am looking into purchasing an ro system for my 92 gallon corner tank, when looking at the items they all mention a certain gpd rate. How do i know how many gallons per day i need, and what is the GPD based on?

Is the RO system going to be constantly pumping water into my tank or only when i turn it on? Also, if anyone has basic information on using these systems at all would you please share it with me? I just learned about the RO process and would like to know as much as possible before purchasing one.

As far as water changes go, how much more convenient is it to have one? Anyone already using one of these things? Im am currently looking into a 3 stage Pur-Flo II. thanks in advance for your help

I bring him outside right after eating, and he craps. I take him for a walk, and he craps. Then I bring him into the hosue, and as soon as I turn my back, he craps again. If I leave him outside, he wimpers and cries. He is a 17 week old American Eskimo/Papillian cross. He goes to the door when he has to pee, but still thinks crapping in the house is ok. How do I get him to stop, Thanks

The puppy is 8 weeks old. He's a chihuahua mixed with a yorkshire terrier. I've only had him for 5 days but he doesn't seem to know the meaning of the word "NO." Any other dog I've had will stop whatever he's doing if I ever said NO. This one will retaliate back at me by barking and growling and snapping at me when I say no or attacking my hands! I've never hit him or plan to, so I don't know why he does this. Help!

Hunting with ferrets to catch vermin and catch some food to feed them with (and yourself if you like rabbit), is it fair, as long as the quarry is dispatched quickly and humanely? On one hand is it more humane and 'closer to nature' than gassing, shooting etc. ?On the other hand you might have to dig your ferret out!

My favourite bird is getting beaten up by one of the girl birds. I want to give her away to my best friend's daughter as she's too loud to keep in an apartment and they have a large house with a basement so noise won't be a problem. The problem is -I've been told three birds will cause fights as two will pair up and beat up the odd one out-is this true? Also, we like the two blue ones most and they happen to be boys. So I'm wondering-do I HAVE to give away the other male bird with that female? What would happen if I don't or if I give away the two female birds and leave the two male birds behind?
