Just got a Red-eye slider turtle from proffesor, its not eating, about 4 inches, got a basking log/light, HELP..........whats the best way to get him to eat, because i think hes not used to the new food.

e.) Keep offering food, but remove the uneaten portion before it contaminates the tank- usually about 30-60 minutes.

I don't know anything about reptiles,but I thought it's normal for them to go a long time without eating. We had turtles growing up and they ate little goldfish, but not very often. Maybe one a week or even longer.

Ok I'm totally wrong, but here's a website that tells you what it eats and how often. It sounds like it should be given a variety of different foods, not just one food. It will also be "begging" for something to eat. Hope this helps

Make sure that you also have uv light for him. And plenty of space to swim. Dechlorinate the water as well. Then get some of whatever he was fed before. What was it and what are you feeding him now? Also, where do you live? Perhaps he will eat less when the weather turns cooler.
I also have a turtle but mine is always hungry.

Well my husband had just gotten a mud turtle and he didn't eat for a while too to the point where we almost took him back to the store and then we tried different things like goldfish and turtle pellets in water cuz turtles don't have thier own saliva so they have to drink water when they eat and then one day he started eating.YAY!!!!
