Poland and other Soviet nations stood against the might of Russia for their freedom. The US defeated the strongest nation in the world for freedom. But some peoples i.e. Iraq under Saddam, just accepted the abuse. Do these people deserve freedoms that other people fought for themselves?

Forty-six nations adopted a declaration Friday calling for a 2008 treaty banning cluster bombs, saying the weapons kill and maim long after conflicts end and inflict "unacceptable harm" on civilians, particularly children.

Key arms makers — Israel and US — snubbed the conference of 49 nations.
Israel deployed extensively these bombs recently in Lebanon killining or maiming many civilian christian lebanese children.

Here in Minneapolis it $2.49. The cost of gas is such BS. What's the excuse for raising it this week. Two weeks ago it was the cold temps in the north east. I heard yesterday it's because spring is around the corner and more people drive. How much profit is enough?

I mean, you've got to be in your eighties to really have anything of a memory of the war these days and in another ten years time, there's not going to be many OAPs left who have any recollection of it at all.

What are they all going to bang on about then? How great the sixties were? Are we going to be accosted by geriatric rockers offering us a toot on their spliff at the bus stop?

yesterday on the internet there was a story about a man who heard noises from his neighbor's apartment and thought she was being raped. He broke down her door with a sword in hand ( a family heirloom). Turns out the noises were from an adult movie. Funny right? But now he is being charged and sent to jail for a little bit of time for damaging property and something else. What bothers me is that if she was really being raped, he would be a hero now. What do you think?

Following the 7/7 bombings in London, I was wondering what people prefer, fight a war (not specificaly the Iraq war), or stay at home? I believe that suicide bombers are cowards- their way of fighting is by killing the innocent people, and the people who would least expect it- they are too scared of fighting with sword in hand (although now its guns). I think that I would prefer fighting or helping with war effort rather then staying at home, hearing about people dying for this county makes me feel idle. I don't believe in war, but for some reason it comes in with being human.

Will terrorists ever get a hold of nuclear bombs? How can we stop this from happening?
My biggest fear about certain smaller countries acquiring nuclear weapons is NOT that those countries could attack their neighbors. Rather I worry that an unstable country with nuclear weapons could sell or give nuclear bombs to terrorist groups. Those bombs could then be used against U.S. interests, against Israel, or against many other countries. They could spread fear, kill countless innocent people, and damage the economy. And after such an attack we may not neccessarily be able to know where the bombs came from in the first place.

How can we prevent such a scenario from happening?

China is building up it's military power to thwart any attempt by Taiwan of pushing for independence and vowed that it was committed to the peaceful development of its 2.3 million-strong military, the world's largest.

Should we believe this? Isn't this like Iran saying they want nukes for peaceful purposes? Does China really need the worlds largest military to control Taiwan?

Would China ever use those weapons on us?

I wish they would be less biased, maybe showing some positive things going on, don't shield us from the horrible things going on, but don't hide the positive for better ratings! I think it does a disservice to our men and women serving over seas that we don't get to see all of these things. I also think the American people would be able to form a better opinion on whether we should stay or go!
