Following the 7/7 bombings in London, I was wondering what people prefer, fight a war (not specificaly the Iraq war), or stay at home? I believe that suicide bombers are cowards- their way of fighting is by killing the innocent people, and the people who would least expect it- they are too scared of fighting with sword in hand (although now its guns). I think that I would prefer fighting or helping with war effort rather then staying at home, hearing about people dying for this county makes me feel idle. I don't believe in war, but for some reason it comes in with being human.

We were asked this question by our History teacher last year when we were learning about the world wars. DS: this is the point of view of a 14 year old; The goverment and polititions are people playing a game- we are just the pawns on the chessboard. It doesn't matter how many people die, as long as they are on top of the game. Borrowman, About my veiw on terrorists- that's just my personal perception no doubt many innocent people are killed in wars, but some suicide bombers intentionally kill the innocent. Remember the Russian school and the chechnian terrorists? The people targeted were the children- I was about 12 when that happened, some of chidren were about my age. Children are probably the most innocent in the human race, yet they were targeted. Politicians shouldn't just send others to war and watch the effects, they should do the fighting too. I for one would want to grow up and fight a war, or help atleast for the country I call home.

fighting for peace is like f***ing for virginity. It serves no purpose. Wars are started by officials and the Men in power but it comes down to the us to do the dirty work. Its all very good for people like Bush and Blair to sit in their comfortable safe offices and say that wars are necessary but they do not fight, they do not risk their lives or the lives of their children.
I think that if they want to start wars then they should be there on the front line with the people they are sending to their death.

Bush and Blair declared war on terrorism and assumed that the terrorists (freedom fighters) would not react. Why they took this view is hard to answer and having declared war why choose Iraq? Weapons of mass destruction? Rubbish! Al Queda in Afghanistan? Nonsense. The real reason for war is the same today as it was when Hannibal was a boy. To subjugate and occupy other peoples for profit and greed.
Is a suicide bomber any more a immoral weapon than a US land mine or an Israeli tank? Does a US shell kill less innocent civilians than a terrorist bomb.
The only thing that is human (not humane) about war is our infinite capacity for waging it.

you raise two questions
would i fight a war [whos war ,whos enimy ,] say some nutter did something like 7/7 did his father do it ,did his brother? ,did his country?
hate the killer ,find the killer ,find the madman the fool, dontchase shadows ,dont declare war on countries of that done by fools pretending belief ,nor on the belief they pretended,
fine say blaire bombed your house ,you going to attack the queen for something one dude did?
inthis hypothetical case the criminal is a man ,not a country ,not the church of briton ,not [assuming he is christian ] not all christians ,declare the criminal; a criminal ,not his supposed belief to kill as many of the same as we can
war is when a country invades another country
this hasnt happened some idiots did evil
some not a country but some individuals from saudi arabia [for 911 ,but are we at war with the saudies or still trying to find the banker ? we say al quearda /binlarden why a country at war?
we began world war 3 in the most devious way possabile by pretense of a war on terror
but we fight a country ,not terror
so now we declare the acts of a few nutters terror and guess what ww3 just goes on to armogeddon ,but we not at war against any real country only a few nutters hoping to realise the end times
we see threat when we should see sad men ,fools deluding armogeddon

I don't start fights of any sort and always would rather extend my hand in friendship. But, unlike most the posters I see here, I've been in the situation of really having to make that decision. I'll fight.
Its easy to say that we would do this or that but until we actually get put in position to make that decision we don't know what we will do. Surprisingly, the most timid are often the greatest fighters while the ones most vocal about what they'll do and their honor end up cowering in the corner.

I don't believe in fighting a war if I don't have any reason to. However, if the war ever escalates to the point where anyone I know or care for is in immediate danger, I'd give up my own life without a thought to protect them.

No! let the so called smart people who start a war go and do the fighting, there's no one with common sense that want to kill each other. young people are compelled to go out and kill each other for no reason at all only to satisfy the pure greed of the powers to be.

I would fight a war to defend my country friends and family. If in immediate danger. What else could we do? roll over.?
Believe all soldiers past and present should be given the respect they deserve for their bravery and sacrifices.Where would we be now if our grandparents were all pacifists?
However do not believe our soldiers should be sent to fight an unjust war.

I would fight to protect my family and myself against an invading force. as a last option. I would never ever join an army as a career choice. If you do join an army you cannot complain that that the baddies keep shooting at you or trying to blow you up. thats what you get paid for.

Peace through wimpiness does not work, never has worked. There are some people that need to be killed. And yes, I have been in the Army.

Most British people would probably say they'd rather not but when push comes to shove, we do the job. That would include me but, on the whole, I'd rather watch Top Gear.
