Shouldn't they at least tell our guys where the bombs are? Aren't these guys like ARVINs in turbans? They refuse to help!

From what I've heard from soldiers who have returned from Iraq, the citizens are not apathetic. They are, however, as several have mentioned above, scared to death. If you read past the headlines about the number of Americans killed each day, you will find stories about dozens, if not hundreds, of bodies of Iraqi civilians being found every morning in and around Baghdad alone. They have usually been killed execution style, and there are often signs of torture and/or mutilation. Sometimes whole families are wiped out. Giving information to U.S. troops is a quick way to end your life.

As was obvious long ago, we didn't send enough troops in the first place. Now a civil war is raging, and we aren't about to commit the troop strength that would be needed to stop it. All this could have been prevented, however . . .

They are very kiddish and don't know who to trust, some of them. Some of them know a lot more than what they say and if I were there I don't believe I would trust any of them.

Our Soldiers have the same decisions they must make with only an second to think about it. Some do the wrong thing according to our media and they go to prison, this isn't right!

They are scared to tell us anything. They know they can lie to us because, with a few well publicized exceptions, they know that we won't harm them. On the other side, they know that if they do tell us anything they well end up tortured and killed. They have people coming into their house saying we are planting a bomb on the road here and if you say anything we will kill your family. So they keep their mouth shut and protect their family.

They are scared to death because thousands of people are tortured and killed each month. By different sides. We did a poor job in sorting this thing out. Those people are terrified.
