I mean, you've got to be in your eighties to really have anything of a memory of the war these days and in another ten years time, there's not going to be many OAPs left who have any recollection of it at all.

What are they all going to bang on about then? How great the sixties were? Are we going to be accosted by geriatric rockers offering us a toot on their spliff at the bus stop?

Being one of those 'old' boring people I would say they will talk about the good old days when you didn't die from sex--gas was 25 cents a gallon, coffee was 10 cents a cup and was bottomless, you could smoke and not get rocks thrown at you, you could actually do math with a pencil, and yes,our fathers were in the war, they didn't have a choice then, they were drafted. As far as the 60's go, I was a widow with 2 little boys and working 3 jobs to survive, if there was a great well fare program then I never knew about it I knew we had to have a home and food and a car. We're so boring it is just sad to those of you who hold no esteem for those of us that manage to know a bit. Our generation is the one that invented the goodies for your generation. How boring.

Can you remember when ............... soldiers went to war instead of using long range missiles and chemical war fare
The UK was mainly a christian country and houses were only a quarter of a million pounds
people used to work five days a week or sign on, now they just chip and pin them until they work again.
electricity was on 24 hours a day instead of five and children went to school in buildings and weren't taught from home computers...... and we used to eat meat and the only Mad cow was Mrs whatshername down the road that died of old birds flu.
and a roast joint meant Beef Lamb or pork
Not a government recommended five spliffs a day Cannabis cake .we were all listening to music form the Face pack of David Boney and Helton John and Mick Jagged and the Rolling Homes
I think they were called......... but my brains becoming dim
I must find my intellect charger and plug in for an hour
Ah yes those were the days........

Actually, what older Americans are more likely to talk about is the disgusting way they are shoved aside--and worse, warehoused in "nursing homes" so they won't get in the way.

but of curse, no one realizes that--because instead of listening to what they have to say, people jsut assume they sit around and think about things that happened 50 years ago. It's so much more self-serving to stereotype them as being stuck in the past

And the young people will no doubt resent it if they are treated the same way when their turn comes Which is exactly what they have to look forward to if they don't change their sorry attitudes--and how our society treates older Americans-- and start treating their elders like humn beings.

And in the not too distant future, the Police will be calling on Old Peoples homes and asking them to Turn down the Iron Maiden due to complaints from local young people.

The 60s without a doubt! They were brilliant and I have many, many happy memories from that decade as I was in my 20s then and lived in London which was the perfect age to be in the perfect place in the perfect era! I lived it to the full.

They will probably waffle on about how cool and care free the swinging 60's were.
I know when i'm old, I will be talking about how many raves I went to in my younger days - and probably even subject my grandchildren to 'r n b' and 'jungle' music cd's...
Cd's in 30 years time will probably be what vinyl is now to me, ancient!
