After Libya refused to handover the 2 suspects of Lockerbie bombing, what economic sanctions were imposed. What do sanctions limit a country from doing? When sanctions are imposed on a country, are they the same for any country? For example, India was hit with sanctions after their Pokran Nuclear tests, was it also the same?

I was shocked and stunned by the photos of the McGanns in the Sunday newspapers. They looked more like lottery winners than a couple who have recently 'lost' a young child. Had their selfish and despicable action of leaving the children alone occurred at home in England, they would be prosecuted for child neglect and rightly so. Instead, they appear to have become celebrities with the use of a private jet and an audience with the Pope no less ! I can't help it but I smell a LARGE rat here, I just cannot fathom what it is.
Your task should you choose to accept it is to express your own opinion on what has REALLY happened here.

This is what we have been saying all along, that the president did not and can not go to war, or remain in war on his own. Our type of government prevents it. The senate and house both republican and democrat voted to do it, AND to stay in it. So what the hell made her finally realize it? To quote the good witch of the north, "the power to see it was always there" so what happened???

This isn't partisan so please keep the flames to a minimum.

It's a serious and fair question from a former (betrayed) Democrat, and I'm looking for mature thoughtful answers: With the revelation that only 6 Senators from EITHER party read the NIE report (many say they were 'briefed' on it) how many buy the excuses they are giving about why they voted for bush's war? Even Edwards, the only one to admit a mistake, still betrayed (us) because it's easy to say "oops" AFTER an operation has begun.

Reason for question: Not just looking for an easy opportunity to attack bush and/or Congressional Democrats. I am just sick to death of the two main parties trading power every so many years - while keeping imperialist U.S. foreign policy intact.

Second question: Aren't you also sick of paying for militarism, based on lies, in order to support our economy?

Letting our material desires get played by entertainment and advertising? So we want more than
we can afford to own? And demand more wages and benefits to pay for them? Then the corrupt types of Rich crying publicly, but laughing in private? Simply raising their prices for their goods? And the Middle Class "brings home" more money every week? But doesn't "have" any more money, because everything costs more? And the Rich get richer, and the Poor get clobbered?

And shouldn't they still do something in private? That not only being the proper thing to do, but being found out later on only defeats the purpose of
keeping it quiet?

Please help me here , Because I am having a real hard time trying to understand this .

What almighty power does the Pope have that he can offer comfort to the parents ?

So when you need comfort you should seek the pope becasue he can make it seem better ? He can't solve anything but he can make it feel better .

I live in a world were the water is wet and the sky is blue and where parents look after thier children .

PEOPLE OF THE WORLD - GET OVER YOURSELVES

Please don't go on about Catholic / christian or any other beliefs , These are beliefs you will chase these your whole life and you will die none the wiser .

2 things in life are certain - You will be born and you will die

But isn't the contraversay in the middle the fun part !!!

I mean they tried praying at the local levels (local churces) which didnt work.

Then they tried visiting Fatima (a little higher up on the Religious scale)

Now they are visiting the Pope.

Now if the Big Fella isnt going to listen to the Pope then he isnt going to listen to anyone .......

If it was a court, then visiting the Pope is like visiting the High Court. There are no appeals process left after that.

So if she doesnt appear, maybe they can abandon the whole religious train theyve been riding for nearly a month, and actually get round to looking for her the good old fashioned way.

From todays Telegraph.

"The Simple Minds song Don’t You Forget About Me may be re-released in the campaign to find Madeleine, it emerged last night. The 1985 hit has been used on a video appeal and has proved an internet phenomenon. A McCann family spokesman said a new video appeal would feature the Bryan Adams hit Everything I do, I Do It For You."

Perhaps they should spend less time wondering what 'cool' new song they can play against a backdrop of Maddie next week and more time doorknocking and trying to find Maddie.

Having done a little research on this condition, my fears for poor Madeleine's safety are confirmed, rather than allayed.
If she has been kidnapped/abducted, her captor(s) will soon realise that she is "less than perfect", if she does indeed display other symptoms sometimes associated with this syndrome.
If she had let herself out of the appartment and wandered off in search of her parents, it is quite possible that she could have fallen into a ditch/been run over.
(We have not been told whether she has impaired vision, as a result of her condition, but I did notice on the news this morning the video of her tripping up at the foot of the steps to the plane.)
For those people who think her parents are directly implicated, the possibility of Madeleine having additional health complications might have a direct bearing on this dreadful case.
I am sure that every possible scenario is being investigated

I hear here and there "Borat" and "Borat". Why people like him so much and believe all nonsense he says? Is it normal for Western European Democracies to lie and to say untruth to their citizens? As far as I know; Borat is British? Why didn't he film a comedy about Britain? May be British wouldn’t love Borat so much, when hearing untruth about them?!

I can understand them needing prayers but God helps those who help themselves. I hate judging people but truly believe that an appeal directly to the child snatcher would be more constructive. Am sure the Pope prays daily for all suffering little children & a visit wouldn't grant them anything "extra" but perhaps some "feelgood". Am not so naieve as so expect the abductor to return Maddie on the appeal but at least they may get some kind of info. OR am i getting desperate myself? Poor little Maddie.

Why does it seem alot of people are focusing their attention to things like "global warming" when we have much bigger issues that can be focused on? For example, Darfur, Uganda, world hunger, the poverty around the world? It just seems like people don't want to focus on things that are actually happening, while children have to walk from village to village every day trying to escape people (uganda). Any thoughts?

I am pretty sure Oprah is the reason gas prices are going up. Her and the guy that invented the Rubiks Cube!
I am not 100% how they are to blame, but I feel pretty certain they have something to do with it.
And the guy working the ticket counter down there at Disney World..I got my eye on you too!

I'd like to be a column writer for my school's newspaper and I'm seeking suggestions for a theme for my column. I will be writing this column a few times a week for 3 months, so I need something that I could write at least 20 separate articles on. Any suggestions?
