Liberals seem to want to limit talk radio, but not Liberal speech. So I guess they want to decide what is acceptable.

We haven't lost our right to free speach but what appears to have happened is that you have to say the right thing otherwise your opinion doesn't count. Everyone wants to jump on the goody two shoes bandwaggon. The McCanns is a prime example - when the debate first started, if you suggested that perhaps the parents were responsible for their little girl going missing it was as if you had committed murder.
Journalists are the worse with the exception of Jeremey Paxman - they never ask any probing questions any more - everything you see on TV is scripted and the questions pre-agreed. You will see this on the McCanns - they will start to say, yes, we will do an interview but you cannot ask us this that or the other.

Things have changed with the Internet; you can blog. The problem is that there is so much of this, that it is impossible to choose what is important and what is spam.
Things that are seen by the masses, that show up on television, are always edited. These kind of things are not freely accessible.
I think that this is the way the future will be like, writing something on-line will end up in the evening news.

Markymark has a handle on this one. I love my country and the freedom that we enjoy and that by the way is brought to you by the soldiers who have fought and died for this country and no one else, hoo-ah! Free speech is limited and rightly so, you cant say anything that will come under slander or libel or that will get people hurt, ie; yelling MOVIE in a crowded fire house, lol. It is not perfect, but it is all we got. Personally, I am opposed to that which countries like Venezuela, (who just pulled the plug on a station that would'nt play along) have, I am happy to call this home.

If anything I think speech is freer now than it ever has been on the basis that there are so many channels to get your voice heard. It doesn't mean that anyone will listen and it doesn't mean that people will believe you, but if you want to say something you can. Not sure this is necessarily a good thing - there is so much noise these days: blogs, podcasts, emails, voicemails, texts, aaaaaargh i'm drowning!

In the US we have not lost freedom of speech. Congress and the Supreme Court have put some limitations on political advertising. But we can still say what we want, as long as it is not intended to harm anyone.

Us McCann supporters or so u call us do not decide what can and can't be said. I do not support the fact that they left the children on their own but I do support the fact that they are doing everything they can to get their precious daughter back.
