If you don't support the mission then you don't support what the troops are doing. You can't support someone unless you support what they do. Liberals who are against Iraqi freedom also are against the troops. They are modern-day Hanoi Jane Fondas.

I'm a liberal who detests the Bush administration. I also think fundamentalist Islam (or any fundamentalist religion, for that matter) is dangerous.

That being said, how do we combat the spread of fundamentalist Islam without undermining our civil liberties? How do we respect and protect the First Amendment without undermining it? Finally, how do we combat fundamentalist Islam without using tactics that make it more powerful and dangerous (like the Bush administration is currently doing in Iraq).

Opinions or book recommendations are welcome. Garbage published by Regnery or opinions by right-wing mouth breathers are not.

Firstly, my prayers go to everyone that has been affected by this disaster. However, i am a Canadian watching C.N.N. and am discusted with the two state senators. They just held an onsite press conference with the FEMA Director. He got right to the bottom telling people what to expect in the next few hours and days and how FEMA will be assisting. The 2 dimwit senators get up and start praising the "new" FEMA", compairing it to the old FEMA and how it was such a failure in the 2004 and 2005 hurricanes. Do the affected people need to hear about 1 1/2 years ago. People their need to know what will be happening in the "now" not the past. Neither one of them even sent condolences to the families of the people who died. Tell the folks how it is and get down to business.

we locked up the dirty japs after Pearl Harbor and there was not another attack on maerica by japs in 60+ years. This proves detention camps work. Why cant we lock up muslims after 9/11 to prevent further terror attacks/

With constant assaults of sexuality on our senses? And nobody is getting it as good as they are on TV! If Sigmund Freud was right, and dreams are an outlet for sexual frustration? Is that the reason we have more crimes of Lust? Violence, rape, and murder?

I think everyone is familiar with the horrific atrocities being commited by the Chinese against what used to be once the sovereign nation of Tibet. According to rough U.N. estimates:
"Over 17% of Tibetans killed since Chinese invasion, over 6,500 monasteries destroyed - Genocide and torture by the Chinese continues." I fail to see how how a guy like Saddam who killed 142 shias warranted the invasion of Iraq and his subsequent execution while in Tibet 17% of its population is wiped off the faced of this earth and China doesnt even make it to the 'axis of evil list'. On the contrary they are awarded the olympics and billions of dollars of U.S. foreign investment. Is it me or is something seriously wrong with the world's so called Powers?. The video posted below is just one of many examples of how the Tibets are killed when fleeing Chinese rule which are being commited at an alarming rate unfortunately.

I want to know because there seems to be millions wasted on studies into the enviroment, then goverments that pay for the studies say there is not the money to do anything about what the studies find. We know global warming is real and happening and we MUST do something to stop it but why waste the money confirming what we already know rather than trying to do something? Why do we seem to have an idea that its not our problem that we should wait for someone else to act?
