the groundhog is an animal...i never saw a news program with a groundhog meteorologist giving the weather forecast...what the groundhog saw will never tell when spring will start...whether there is a cloud in the sky to day the groundhog didn't see his shadow has very low statistical significance as to when spring will start...check your farmer's almanac...

I think its all relative to your climate. Essentially it means 6 good weeks or 6 bad weeks for your location.
