I'm looking at options for buying or building a home. One option is to buy some land and put a modular (prefab) home on it. None of the websites I've looked at give prices. They all want you to leave a number or email address for a quote. I just want to know, generally, what kind of money I am looking at spending for a 1500-2000 sq ft modular home with 3 bedroom.

It keeps going up the willow tree collecting sticks in a little pile in the tree. Could it be building a dray? It's not building anything just making a pile. Do you think it's collecting them to build it somewhere else? and ISN'T IT EXCITING.

Just moved into a property where the former occupiers left behind a condensing tumble dryer. It would appear there was no ventilation for it. Does that mean one can use a condensing tumble dryer without venting it?

i switched my electricity supplier and was horrified to get a bill for £1100. i've been on prepay meter since i moved into my rented flat so i wrote to ex-supplier and told them this. they wrote back and said that as i did'nt let them know the meter was'nt working properly i am liable for the bill.
i charged my key up, put it in the meter and got electricity - working fine!
....and how do i get it checked now to make sure i dont get another bill if i change supplier again

I am thinking of having a conservatory built and am a little concerned about what I am being told by various builders. The thing that concerns me most is how big does it have to be before it requires planning permission. Someone has told me the size is not the issue but instead what percentage of the structure is ' temporary ' ie glass and not brickwork. Can anyone help?

i have an oddly shaped log. from its side, it shaped like an egg. its hollow on the inside. girth is maybe 8-9 inches. i want to cut it twice, makeing 3 seperate sections. ... so, not lengthwize, but width?wize.

i guess im going to be using a chainsaw... ive never used one before. do i need to secure the wood like i would with something i'd cut with a handsaw? or can i just set it on the ground, levened on bricks, and just cut it... i dont think i should use a person to hold the log down.. so what do i do?

I’m looking for some sort of lock that can be fitted to a refrigerator. Are there any locks designed specifically for fridges?

Thanks.

The entire south-west facing wall of my house does not have a single window in it. It gets the sun all day virtually every day of the year. I would love to get my hands on the architect!
Without too much in the way of structural alterations how can I harvest the power of the sun for heating purposes?

I live in a 50+ year old rancher that I purchased 3 years ago. After the first year I noticed the old wallpaper starting to come away from the wall under one of the double windows on the side of the house. I immediately peeled away the damaged wallpaper to explore and upon removing the sill I could see that water is dripping down between the two window units. I've checked the attic and there is no evidence of the water coming from the roof. I've also recaulked all the way around the window's exterior, making sure not to clog the weap holes. The windows are about 10 years old from what I can discern. Is this a case of poor installation? Do I need new windows or is there a cheaper solution?

I am curious about your remedies for whatever. Here is one of my favorite I will pass on to you. Dryer Sheets to get rid of soap scum. Get a few of those wet and start wiping your shower or tub down....rinse. So easy, works fast and is not harmful to eyes or skin. Can be used on glass enclosed showers as well......you wont believe how clean it gets.
