I do not have a green thumb and most plants (cylcamen, ivy for example) that enter my home die. This is one plant that I have kept around for over 3 years with lots of neglect but the new sprout growth are narrow and not wide like the sprouts were when I got it. I have gotten it to bloom each year which is a good thing. The location is out of direct sunlight and in an area that has great indirect sunlight. Typically, the soil dries out and then I give it a good watering and let the pot drain thoroughly before putting it back in its location so that there is no standing water. Last year I placed an inch of new soil to the top area of the plant (I did not repot it with new soil) and that helped with the new sprouts.

If you advise me to use a fertilizer, please be specific as to what type, how much and how often. I guess that's it. Thanks in advance.

I Am At War!!!! I just bought my first house a few months ago and have since found out that the backyard is home to a bunch of gophers or ground squirrel type animals. These little boogers are tunneling under my lawn and building big mounds of dirt all over the yard. Not to mention them eating the plants etc. They must go! I have tried the smoke bomb type devices that you put into the tunnels . . I have found one dead from that. I bought a dog . hopefully he will start to get'em. So far he hasn't though. Anybody got any ideas? I feel like I am Bill Murray in the Caddyshack movies. he he. Any help would be great! Thanks, Randy in Temecula, CA

burrow under 3 of them. Each burrow contained a large whitish creature that looked something like a big caterpillar but had only four pairs of long centipede like arms to the front of the body and a head that looked like a centipede (to me anyway) They are soft bodied with a darkish area at the tail end and they clearly couldn't handle the sunlight as they tried to burrow deeper into the earth to avoid it (I think). I am a bit of an environmentalist so I didn't kill them immediately but it makes me nervous to think there are centipedes in the backyard where the kids play. I have never seen any centipedes as large as these creatures suggest they will become. I did some research and think they may be something called a burrowing centipede but none of the sites I visited described the young or had pictures. Can anyone tell me if they've seen anything like this before and what they may be. I'd hate to kill some harmless creature.

i have recently started having problems with my neighbour, both my and his house has 2 cars and we have a shared drive. Me and my partner are forced to park on the road as my neighbour has parked one of his cars, the one that isnt used often, on the drive and is blocking access to our garage and so when i put my car on the drive, usually when there is no room on the road, he then blocks my car on the drive and i cannot get out, which is a huge inconvienience as i leave early in the morning. I need to know what i can do to get him to move this car as not only can we not use the garage, the car is parked by the back door and causing an obstruction. When approached he says he has every right to park the car there but if this is the case then surely so do we. Please help.

I plan on buying a new house soon and was wondering if anyone had any advice on what to check for. One friend told me to see how many outlets are in each room (something I never would have thought of). Does anyone have any other ideas from personal experience of what I should check out before buying a house?

This may be a stupid question, but can someone tell me where I can buy really thick paint markers (like someone might use for grafitti)
I live in Ontario Canada and need to make a really large sign, I am not sure how else to do it.

If you have any other suggestions that you think would work, anything would be helpful.
Thanks!!

I am remodeling a home and I am considering installing sprinklers on the top floor where the kids rooms will be. Pros and Cons? Has anyone done this before. My only fear is that they might go off accidentially and cause water damage.
Thank you!

I need to make a handmade "curtain" without a sewing machine by tomorrow morning (i.e. a few hours from now...:) The curtain is being used to hide a refrigerated display case. I'm planning on using velcro to attach the material to the case. However, it is in a restaurant and will need to be cleaned quite often. So i thought using elastic to gather the material at the top would create creases to help hide any stains at least a little bit. I have a glue gun, elastic, thread, and a needle. What do you suggest?! Help please!!

I am thinking about buying one, but i know it doesnt take too long for our upright vaccuum to become full (lots of dog fur). I live in a one bedroom studio apt with my wife and our two medium sized dogs. Due to the constant temperature changes from Texas heat to apt AC or Texas freeze to apt warmth they are always shedding and i would like to have the thing just vaccuum while i am at work since I really dont have time between school, a 40hr job, and homework to vaccuum. My main concern is that the vaccuum would get full after a few minutes and become useless until emptied. Does anyone know the how much it can hold, how strong is the suction, which model to purchase, and where i can see a demonstration.

Hello,

We've had a mouse infestation for a little while (which means it's only bigger now!! GaargH!!) I only do humane cos I can't kill the cute little critters for just wanting a place to stay... (and with my small children dropping crumbs and hiding food down the side of the couch PLUS the dog food, I'm sure I live in mouse-y paradise!! My house is probably known as the Tahiti of Mouse-dom!) Anyway - I want a humane trap that will catch more than one mouse at once so that I'm actually making headway with the critters!! Otherwise all I'm doing is battling against their breeding program! =)

Thanks all for your help...!
