..the window seal in my living room has what looks like 2 nest type things growing on the INSIDE... and on the ledge on the inside there was a pile of what looks like DIRT that is falling from the window seal. The nasty cocoon looking nest things look like little sprinkles of dirt but they are forming up there and I have no idea what they are!! HELP!!!!!!!!! What could they be? I keep a very tidy, clean apartment....

Are you talking between the panes of the window? It is probably an old spider web. They can get pretty disgusting looking after awhile. I wouldn't fret if you have a spider web.........they say it's better to have a spider in the house than other bugs. The spiders catch the other bugs.....I use to freak when I found spiders up at the cabin......but they do help with other critters that get in.
I would just vaccum up you mess and go on with cleaning your house and forget about it......

Sounds like hornets or mud dabbers to me. But as they say need a picture to tell. I would vaccum away the debris and use some sort of spray or homemade bug detterent.
I would also keep a close eye on this. Of course, it could
just be spiders; but that would not be consistent with your
mentioning the "dirt" falling.

Sounds like it could be the beginnings of a mud dauber nest. Although without seeing thenest itself, or what the insect is, we couldnt tell you. If I was you, take the appropriate precations anyways. Get some Hornet & Wasp Nest spray. And it should take care of the problem.

It's hard to answer without a picture. Could be a spider nest.

Probably spider eggs or something, no biggie. Just cuz a critter takes up residence in your home, it doesn't mean it's dirty.
