I have a FL grow light 2" from the tops. and foil surrounding the area dull side out to deflect it. I have also (since they are no more than an inch or 2 below soil) have dug arround the seedling and lowered it into the the soil and coverd the stem 1" from the bottom of the first foliage, hopefully aerating the soil (may have been too compacted not allowing for O2 flow) and lowering the sprout deeper into the soil. If this IS a light problem is it because I have the WRONG light?

We have our address painted on the curb on both sides of the driveway. I was thinking about repainting it but that reflective paint is expensive. They have reflective stickers. But as I was walking my dog today, I noticed all the mailboxes with adhesive stickers were Black metal or plastic boxes. What can I stick on my brick box, which has a rougher finish, that will stay / not come off in the rain?

A worker for the UN has come by and is cooking food here wth a stove that sits out in the sun and has mirror like panels to direct the sun to the stove and it sure does work. The UN would like to get more people to use them to save wood and other resources in very poor places. I know some nations can not use this very well because not enough sun and too cold outside.

I am looking for something that will plug into a wall and emit a frequency that the pesky squirrels in my attic will hate. Has anyone used any of these products, if so, how would you rate them?

like 600 to 800. I was helping a customer today with a down comforter and said she wanted 800 thread count and wouldn't settle for the 750. Is there really a difference.

I really want to be a culinary artist and I'm looking for chef knives. There are just so many out on the market I have no idea. Shun, Kershaw, etc. I need something reasonably priced being a college student and all, great quality, will last a long time, and looks good. I would prefer a kit (I would think it to be cheaper so I wouldn't have to by all the knives separately) with a bag, not a case. The only brand I really don't like esp look wise is Carbon. Which brand should I get and why?

For some reason, I got my electricity bill this month and it was 300 dallors. Nearly tripled from last month. I live in Texas, in a 1100 sq. ft. apartment, downstairs, hardwood floors, with lots of windows, built in the 30's, recently renovated. It's central heat and air. Summers in Texas are hot and I expected a high bill for it, but this was higher and it is nearly winter. It got kinda cold for like a week and a half and I had the heat on. But the majority of the time my heat and air have been off. I called the electric company and spent an hour on the phone with them, but of course they couldn't help me. They did teach me how to read the meter and I did. I did the calculations and the meter read was right. I just can't believe I used 2400 kilowatts vs 787 kilowatts last billing cycle. Plus, they lowered my charge per kilowatt. What is going on? I am afraid it will be the same next billing cycle since the winter is just starting. Also, I just moved into this apartment in September.

I'm not at all sure how to categorize this question, so I'll post it in multiple places nd hope someone has some experience in the matter.

Comparatively speaking, what sort of temperature (general feel, not specific numbers), amount of flame (not just glowing embers), length and efficiency of burn, and amount/appearance of ash can be expected when burning blocks of peat, lengths of hardwood, and chunks of anthracite coal? I'm trying to gather info for novel-writing in lower-technology settings, so I'm more interested in sensory input and daily usage (smell, warmth, appearance, practical efficiency) than in scientific figures, though I'll be thankful for any info at all....

While I usually have a strict "real flowers only" rule in my house, I am interested in some fake greenery to fill the space at the top of my kitchen cabinets. Any ideas? I'd rather not spend a fortune. I know I can probably find something at Michael's, but am interested in other suggestions.
