I would love it if I had nothing else or a poor quality stove. They work really well. They are terriffic to take when camping (if it is small enough). You do have to get used to cooking differently though and the do not work so well the closer to the North or South Pole you get. The closer to the Equator you are, the better they work.

Right now, I have to go out to the gas grill and turn the pork chops.
I saw this one link that had a system directing the sunlight indoors to a stovetop against a wall.
My neighbor had a solar oven and was always making casseroles and such. It heated up to about 350 degrees F.
They work in winter, too, if done right.

I don' t think so- Its a good idea, but it seems like quite a bit of work and not very convenient. I live in an apartment and my kitchen is not even remotely close to a window, so for me it would not be so good.
