like 600 to 800. I was helping a customer today with a down comforter and said she wanted 800 thread count and wouldn't settle for the 750. Is there really a difference.

only if she is uber snooty and has only slept on 800 count her whole life, then she MIGHT be able to tell the difference between 750 and 800 count, but i mean it is not really a big difference---some people like to have more thread count because it is like a status symbol because more thread cound means the cost is greater---also the more the thread count the softer the sheets because the thread is woven together tighter than say 300 or 500 count threads---i had 350 count threads growing up but after we started sleeping on them and washing them they got so soft you would think that they were 800 count---no kidding, 350 count from JC Penny feeling like 800 count, and they were really not that expensive---this i know or my mom would never have bought them!

Yes, there really is. I bought a cheap set of sheets for the extra bedroom, and I felt guilty when my grandson came to stay overnight. The sheets I use on my bed are so nice, although they are only like 400 count. I wonder how we can trust that there are 400 threads to an inch anyway :-)

Yes there is. 180 count is okay when you are on a budget and trying to save money. But please don't go below 180. Anything 200 count and up is great. The material is very soft and smooth. You also won't have the pilling or the tendency of yellowing or dinginess.

Let's put it this way, I still have sheets from my grandparents days, but ones I purchased in the early 90's are gone the way
of the dodo bird. Yes, thread count counts. I have learned.
