This is going to be a WHILE down the line, but I want to buy one of those log cabin kit homes and put it on a piece of land. Have any of you guys ever done that? Did you get a loan from the bank for the kit and construction? Ive read about them on the sites but I wanted to talk to a real person who has done this...

So I just got scammed -- I bought 1/2 cord of firewood from a guy who told me it was cut, split, and seasoned. It turns out that it was cut and split, but not seasoned. It is not dried out, and in fact is quite wet.

My question is this: do you think it is safe to dry split firewood by putting it in my (electrical) oven? I was thinking of putting it on low heat (200 degrees max, probably more like 180, which most kilns operate at), a few logs at a time, to dry them out. Is there any danger to this?

to kill it, but apart from the fact my daughter and I now refuse to go in the room, I really dont want it there from a hygiene point of view. My husband has said he will try it my way until Sunday and then he gets to put the poison and inhumane traps down. I have put a humane trap down but unfortunatley the mouse is far too clever and wont go near it. Anyone got any tried and tested ideas. Also can mice jump if so how high, and I know they can climb on material things like curtains etc but could they climb up a video box. Strange question I know but I have built a wall of video boxes around the tv stand to try and box it in, but think I may be wasting my time!!! Thanks for any help.

I have killed three PACK RATS in my kitchen within the past six months. I had to buy a very large rat trap after two of my mouse traps totally disappeared. The last rat was the size of small dog. No kidding! From end to end, not including the tail, it was aproximately 11 inches long. The steel trap kills them, but how can I make them ALL leave, or at least kill them at a faster rate. They don't seem to be biting on the Poison I put out.

We moved Jan. 06, going on 11 months here I do wish to plan a house warming. Due to uncontrolled circumstances throughout the year hindered us from planning something and being joyous. My husbands father had a heart attack the end of Jan., I moved off site (I manage apts.), a drunk driver drove thrue one of my buildings (stressful) in Feb., March a close freind from church, age 25 mother of 2 passed away from a severe stroke, the end of March my father in law has another heart attack, then just the simple task of unpacking thrue all this, making my kids feel secure in their new home and adjusting to school, the list goes on. It has truely been a stressful year and I'm looking for a better year in 2007. But I did not want to seem tacky in planning a house warming 1 year later.

I just bought a candle warmer and it warns against burning candles with vegetable oils in them . . . how can you tell if a candle has been made with vegetable oil since most candles don't have an ingredients list. Will it say?
