Studies at some leading universities have found the best way to control them is to get three tubes of caulk and a caulk gun and go around the house and fill every crack and hole you can find, especially on the south and west sides. It's a lot of work but these Asian ladybugs get between the outer wall of the house and the inner wall. If they find a hole in the inner wall, well, then they are in your house. Once there the best control is a vacuum.

The beauty of caulk is it works for years and it keeps out a lot of other pests like spiders, ants, millipedes, etc.

You other option is to get a hose-end sprayer and spray the sides of your house with malathion or sevin. This will kill most of them before they can get between the walls. The downside is you have to do it every year. The first year may be an emergency and your only option but do you really want to have to spray your house every year? And who wants to live in a house coated with pesticide?

Go for the caulk. I did it and I had exactly 3 of them show up in my house all last autumn and winter.

They usually gather in a window sill on the sunny side of the house. Go there and spread boric acid powder (this is a roach repellant/killer you can get at stores like KMart, etc;) on the sill.

Then spray a mixture of Murphy's Oil Soap and water (70/30)onto the little buggers. They will not fly well and will eventually fall into the boric acid. That stuff gets on them and kills them dead.
Worked for me. Good luck. Seal your house up good as they are trying to come in for the winter. You will proably get more next year too but not as many.. eventaully they will be gone. took me a couple years to elimiate them all.

I would call an exterminator and have them come out and take care of the ladybugs. I've never head of someone having a problem with them! They are so pretty...too bad you've had to kill so many.

They probably aren't ladybugs, i think they are called asian beetles or something. Is is orange, instead of red? These are hard to get rid of. You will probably have to spray an insecticide.
ALso, if you kill them, don't squish them. The odor they let off attracts more of them.
Good luck!

I see that lots of people are having troubles with lady bugs in their dwellings I have never heard of that before. What part of the country is this happening in? I would love to get my hands on some lady bugs. They are great for the garden. There are people out there who actually pay good money for them. You should start a business and sell them. I see them for sale in mail order all the time.

Just wanted to say Thanks for asking the question and thanks to those who answered. I too have been swamped by them in the past two days. I'm in Virginia and they seem to show up this time each year.
