sure do...keeps the leaves and snow out. I however don't bother with an actual a/c cover...I use the kids plastic wading pool and put a rock on top to keep it from blowing away..seems to work and it is cheaper.

My unit is actually a "heat pump". It runs during the winter months and is very energy efficient. I imagine if I had window units I would cover them during the winter.

Yes absolutely. Does help with drafts coming in the house. Keeps the rain and snow off of it in winter. A really good idea.

We have a central unit outside for the whole house. Well, actually, we have two units because the house is large. Each unit takes care of a certain zone. But, I never thought about covering them. I've seen window units covered but, I wonder if we should cover our large outdoor units. Thanks for reminding me. I'll ask our AC man.

I live in Florida so if I covered mine when I'm not using it, it would be for about 4 days in February. lol So I guess my answer is no, I don't cover it when I am not using it.
