Use moth balls, after about three or so days check to see if the bats are gone. Find the entrance the bats are using to get in and seal it up. If you are one of the lucky people who have bats around your house I would build a bat house, there are many plans for the construction of this on the web. Why would you want bats? Bats eat insects, a lot of insects, this might help during the summer months.

They're probably roosting in your attic and accidentally getting into your house. The last place they want to be is inside your house with you, they just want to get outside to eat bugs. If it's in your house close all doors to other rooms. Open doors or unscreened windows in the room that the bat is in. Being in an enclosed room is very confusing to the bat because it throws off their sonar. It'll probably fly around a little bit then rest for a while but eventually it will find the open space and fly out. Make sure that you see it fly out tho cuz it may hide somewhere and then come out the next evening.

If you are in the UK I think you have to put up with them... some sort of conservation thing! Check with your local council to make sure.

Put a bowl of ammonia in your attic; the scent should drive them out without killing them.

Simpliest way, not cheapest, is to call an exterminator.
