We moved Jan. 06, going on 11 months here I do wish to plan a house warming. Due to uncontrolled circumstances throughout the year hindered us from planning something and being joyous. My husbands father had a heart attack the end of Jan., I moved off site (I manage apts.), a drunk driver drove thrue one of my buildings (stressful) in Feb., March a close freind from church, age 25 mother of 2 passed away from a severe stroke, the end of March my father in law has another heart attack, then just the simple task of unpacking thrue all this, making my kids feel secure in their new home and adjusting to school, the list goes on. It has truely been a stressful year and I'm looking for a better year in 2007. But I did not want to seem tacky in planning a house warming 1 year later.

Just have a regular party. Calling it a housewarming party makes it sound like you are looking for gifts. Tell everyone to bring a dish to share so they will not feel they are coming empty-handed.

If you want everyone over, just have a regular fun party - don't call it a housewarming.
