I'm looking at a piece of property that lacks the space for both a septic system and a well. It is rumoured that city water lines will be run to the property within 10 years, but in the meantime, are there any practical, cost-effective alternatives to well water? I was thinking about water storage tanks for domestic use and rainwater collection cisterns for greywater usage. Would having potable water delivered to the tanks via tanker truck be cost-prohibative? Has anyone out there put some sort of alternative system in place?

I have loft in my San Fernando Valley (hot, hot, hot) third floor condo. the loft is 19x8 with 8' ceiling, which is the roof of the condo. The new 'Mini-split" a/c seem to be the answer to cool that area (in addition to other a/c in the house). It will also help cool the LivRm/DinRm below, and at least keep the air moving in this large area (35x17x18 ceilings).

I've been advised to put in a 12000 BTU mini split. Is this overkill?

I have a wasps nest in my loft, several semi conscious wasps are managing to get down from loft to bathroom and bedrooms. I have two young children so don't like them to breathe poisonous sprays but can't risk them being stung. Is there any way of getting rid of them without danger to ourselves ?

I'm moving this weekend into the new apartment that my fiance and I have gotten. We're looking for a good list of the "must haves" to keep onhand while you're moving. This is what we've come up with so far:

Toilet Paper
paper towels
cheap foods (ramen noodles, spaghetti, etc)
basic pots and pans
tissue
cleaning supplies
trash bags
plastic ware (silverware, plates, etc.)
Towels
soaps (hand, body, and dish)
sponges - for dishes
washcloths
small lamps with extra lightbulbs (for doing work at night!)
personal toiletries (shampoos, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc.
Money for pizzas! ;-)

......that's all we've come up with at first. Did we cover everything?

Sorry to ask, but it's been so long since I've moved last and I'm afraid I'll forget something!

Can I reuse it after I clean it?Do I need to charge my sea salt like I do with my other crystals? It would make sense.I have used a smudge stick of smoldering sage but the energy still feels dirty.Obviously the running water route is out.I was thinking of putting the salt in cheeseloth over the smudge stick so the smoke would permeate more.Or should I just get more salt?Has anyone tried sprinkling the floor of a room with sea salt to clear the negativity , and then vacuming it up?
