I'm moving this weekend into the new apartment that my fiance and I have gotten. We're looking for a good list of the "must haves" to keep onhand while you're moving. This is what we've come up with so far:
Toilet Paper
paper towels
cheap foods (ramen noodles, spaghetti, etc)
basic pots and pans
tissue
cleaning supplies
trash bags
plastic ware (silverware, plates, etc.)
Towels
soaps (hand, body, and dish)
sponges - for dishes
washcloths
small lamps with extra lightbulbs (for doing work at night!)
personal toiletries (shampoos, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc.
Money for pizzas! ;-)
......that's all we've come up with at first. Did we cover everything?
Sorry to ask, but it's been so long since I've moved last and I'm afraid I'll forget something!

Don't forget lots of condoms and lube - you'll want to break the new place in. Lots of new horizontal surfaces to try out.

BEST WISHES in your new digs. My first thought has been covered well in your list....cleaning supplies and easy to fix food. Secondly I'd want a radio or CD player. Music seems to make a place feel like home. Just a battery radio or boom box would do.....no need for sophisticated equipment, just something easily portable.

yep, you need a good bottle of wine to drink at the end of the day!
also i have recently moved and its hard work that builds up the appetite you may need to pack some sandwiches to munch on or a picnic basket would be good!
happy moving!

things that were handy for my recent move, in addition to the stuff you've already listed:
- scissors to open boxes
- small toolkit for immed. fixes (screwdriver - phillips & flat; hammer; wrench/pliers; duct & elec. tape)
- radio/tv for music to work by & finding out what tomorow's weather is!
- writing supplies to list things you need to buy (grocery, missing supplies, stuff to get organized)
- medication and/or prescriptions
- cell phones
- list of #s to call for cable/internet/phone/other providers in case they don't show (don't forget the #s for the apartment building maintenance folks, in case you need them!)
- checkbook & more cash than you think you'll need for pizza PLUS places that might not take your credit card, movers, tips, and the unforeseen emergency
- important papers so you don't have to search for them in the carnage after the move: receipts/estimates for movers, banking info, ID docs, etc.
Just in case:
- blankets/pillows
- change of clothes: both casual & professional (you never know when the movers will screw up)

You should also consider getting all the condiments like salt, pepper, seasoned salt, whatever spices you like, mustard, ketchup, mayo, barbecue sauce, steak sauce, salsa, butter, margarine (if you use it), pancake syrup, peanut butter, jelly/preserves, salad dressings, stuff like that. My wife and I didn't think about any of that stuff when we moved in to our house and we were CONSTANLY going back to the store to get that stuff...
