In my apartment there is a through the wall box underneath my windows that slide horizontally. I bought an A/C 6,1000 BTU unit and put it in the through the wall spot. It stopped working after 4 days, I returned it a week ago and the new one is now not cooling as it should. Is this beause i have a window unit in the wall, am I doing something wrong or do you think its the unlikely possibility that i got 2 defective units?

I am looking for about 6 metal disks, like washers without holes. Size is not critical- around a 50 cent piece would be nice.

Metal should be steel or brass, and have a little thickness and heft to them- again, like a thick washer.

Any ideas where to look?

I know many places have "affordable housing" set aside for people who low/moderate incomes in 'regular' apartment complexes. How can you get a list of these without calling every complex in MD/DC/VA? The HUD site is very outdated (typical governement). Half the places I called either don't exist, are no longer managed by the company given, or had their number changed! And many of them are in very poor areas where it's unsafe. What is someone who doesn't have a lot of money but isn't making only 16,000/year supposed to do in the DC area??? I don't need to live on Kalorama, but I dont want to get shot at either.

I'm moving soon & will have my own backyard {yay!} which is approx. 300 sq. ft. I am planning on growing my own fruits and vegies. I won't be using the soil on the ground as it's not good enough. My husband & I are disabled so I we won't be doing any rototilling and such. I have TONS of planters. My husband is able to do slight building and were thinking of making some wooden planters. Anyhooo. . .any suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks for taking the time. Cindee {:o)

I just bought a Sears Kenmore Model 1410 Zig Zag Sewing Machine, I know it's old but I can't find the year anywhere in the Instructions Booklet. I was wondering if anyone knew what year(s) that model was made?

Really, mice... I knew I had a problem in the attached garage this winter... we have been setting traps using peanut butter as bait... but these mice are very intelligent mice and they manage to either eat the bait without triggering the trap or they have decided during the course of time that they prefer not to eat it at all... we have only caught 3 or 4 of them and I know that there are a lot more than that in the garage... gloves are used when baiting the traps so no scent...

Problem now is, oh my goodness, I found baby mouse poop in the kitchen underneath the microwave and the toaster oven which are on my countertop... I keep breads, onions, etc around... I have no idea how a mouse could get up there... there are no cords hanging down to the floor or anything like that... the only cord in the vacinity hangs from the microwave over to behind the refridgerator and it does not touch the floor nor is it anywhere near the floor....
