I need to insulate my exterior facing walls in my home. They are too thin to add foam or blow in insulation to.
Instead of removing the plaster board walls that we have now and adding insulation then replacing the old walls with drywall...
I thought I could add that dense foam board and cover that with drywall.
Would that work to insulate well?

Presently you can feel the cold air blowing in from the outside because we just don't have any insulation at all in our wall.
I'm hopefull that by adding this foam board and drywall layer this will cut back on wasted money/energy trying to keep our home warm/cool

In my apartment, the maintenance person badly wired an electric outlet during a repair, and when I went to switch a nearby light on, I was jolted with a full load. I was not wearing shoes for insulation (just socks). I experienced some moderate pain and tingling in the arm. Is there any chance for long term damage? Or can I assume that there are no serious problems as the pain seems to be receding?

We live near Seattle. It rains a lot. It snows on occasion, not usually hard. Rarely, there are windstorms and we have lots of tall trees that like to drop their branches during such storms. Our roof has a pretty normal pitch.

What roofing material would last the longest, require the least maintenance, be easy to repair, and really be the best damn investment into a home we plan to be in for a long time? Any articles you recommend we read?

Thank you!

I went to open the garage door when it was closed from the pad and the lights blinked and popped so I thought I just blew the bulbs. Well, I replaced the bulbs but nothing happens when I hit the pad to try and make the door go up. I've also hit the 'learn' button but nothing. The unit has power so I'm not sure what is wrong. I unplugged it and then used the learn button again but same result, nothing. Also when I push the light button on the pad, I hear the click for the lights but nothing happens. The same thing happens when I push the open on the pad and I hear the click sound again. This one isn't in the manual so I'm not sure what to do.

Ideas?

I just bought a 4.5 hp air compressor. It starts up fine and builds to 155 psi like it should but after the pressure drops and it tries to kick back on it wont it just turns over slow and pops the breaker. I am running it off of a 6200 watt generater with 9000 watts max (surge watts) is this caused by too small of wiring or is the generater not big enough. The compressor is a Kobalt 4.5hp 80 gallon design please help

I tried cleaning out all the dust, and leaving the gas control knob off for several minutes, but the pilot flame goes out every time I release the pilot button. ----I've also tried holding the button down for several minutes before releasing it.
It went out by itself, and refuses to relight.

I know you’re supposed to get someone to come in and clean the fireplace out because it can cause fires but I don't know how often and I don't want to ask a company because they'll probably tell me whatever is going to benefit them most. My old house caught on fire because of it (this was during the previous owner’s ownership) but fortunately only that room was badly damaged because the fire company arrived very quickly (the house is right next to a state park). Anyhow any ideas would be appreciated...Thanks!

Some of the holes in the wood that takes the screws that are holding up a door are stripped so the screws do not grab. What can I do, other than changing the wood, to make the screw hold tight. Is there some product I can put into the hole to make it take the screw? I've already tried thicker and longer screws with no luck.

My brother bought 3 furnaces at the same time and 1 went into his house, 1 went into my house and 1 went into a rental property.
My furnace keeps going out because the surface ignitor burns up and has to be replaced about 1 or 2 times every winter. They cost about $45 bucks and he puts them in for me and says he does not know why it keeps going out. I am getting really worried now because any day now its going to go out and my furnace is going to quit. Any idea's on why it keeps going out and what should I do besides buy a new furnace?

We have a Zanussi AquaSave dws939 that has suddently stopped working, which im trying to fix.

The power light is lite, filters and mains water, waste water has been checked, and now have nothing in the dishwasher.

It has been working fine, then stopped halfway through a cycle, had to manual remove the water, and now it wont restart.

The machine is powered, (have a power light) but it doesnt attempt to start, ie, doesnt make any noise when it should start.

Moving the programme to different positions makes the power light go off when the door is closed, which im not certain if that was normal.

Any engineers got any ideas?
